Some wintery pictures.

Nice pictures, Mike. As for the buck, maybe 24 inches. I like his nice high rack and it is a dandy. Boy, that pic at "high noon" sure brought memories back to me when I lived in Alaska. Thanks
Al

With prime red fox like that running around, I think I would be putting out a trapline!

What is that snow stuff? Here in Anchorage its still spitting a small amount of freezing rain. Its been over two weeks since we had any measureable amount of snow and that was only a couple inches.

That is a dandy mule deer. I agree with Al that inside he is about 24 inches. Nice mass.

Look at the body on that muley-he'd make some fine eating for sure. I guess it's true that the farther north you go the bigger the animals get!

Mike great photos , I'm with Al that buck looks to be about 24 wide, send us some cold weather, it's been like fall here so far.

Mike, that sun sure looks a mite low for noon, but, you are a bit north of delaware. Do you guys experience the blahs associated with lack of sunlight?
Nice buck, by the way--Remember, you can't eat the antlers, fella.

Hey George, about the winter blahs - absolutely. Everybody gets a little weird this time of year. Not a good time to make big life decisions you know? Strangely, the main thing people complain about as this solstice nears is not being able to sleep. Isn't that weird? Its friggin' dark 20 hours a day, how could you not feel sleepy? If I can hold out until 7pm to get my pj's on I'm doing good! Supper at 3:30? Sounds good.

You can dress for the cold and still do stuff outside, its harder to dress for dark. Walking on powdery snow in the dark is such a surreal experience for your brain. Almost no sound, and with big boots on you don't really feel your feet connect to the ground, so its a bit like wading. Without much light, or when you have to squint to keep your eyes warm you start to loose the sense of moving forward and you just feel like you are floating. Kinda like weekends back in university eh?

Its a good time of year for indoor activities, like making decoys.

Mike
