Tarred Line; Suggested sizes?

Guys--
Just ran through a spool of tarred line that I had been using for decoy lines. It was about 1/8" and I'd like to replace it with something a bit meatier and that will hold a hog ring for crimping around dekes. Any suggestions as to a line number ala memphis net's rating?

thanks

Jamus,

Do you want it for dropper lines or straight decoy line? The dropper line/mother line is a little thicker. It is about 1/4". I have some more flexible tarred line that I have used for decoy line that is OK stuff. It is a bit smaller diameter, maybe a few 16ths of an inch. I can send you some samples of both and you can tell me what you want. The place here in Gloucester has the thicker line for $40 a roll for like 1,000 feet of it. I think they have some rolls left.

The name of the place is:

Coastal Marine Supply
184 Washington St
Gloucester, MA 01930
(978) 283-5956

They have everything from net and twine to long line clips and weights. They sell buoys, boots, and fish baskets too. All the stuff you can think of. This shop is really hanging on by a thread. As you know, the fishing industry here has taken a hit over the years, so the regular clientel is declining - big time! Two sisters run the shop and they are very knowledgable. Jamus, let me know if you want me to pop over there. I can send you some of what I have so you can see if it is the stuff you need.

Nate--
That would be a great help. The line will be for straight decoys, not longlines. If you could drop a sample in the mail, I can be reached at 3 chestnut street, grafton ma 01519
