For me,

The best hunting equipment purchase I ever made was a good dslr camera.

The memories I was able to save have brought me years and years of pleasure and happy memories that I would have lost over time.


Although I haven't been able to get out for a hunt in several years, I am able to scan through the vast archives i was able to compile.


I used to post up here before some changes were made to the process to upload and my web based hosting went kaput. I am going to try to upload a few shots to see if I can finally figure it out again...

Here is an otter in the spread.

He finally moved away from the big river to Wyoming to be closer to his grandkids...

The last one is of Kaden,

he crossed the river this last summer at 16. We all miss him.

Todd, I sure remember the stories that included Kaden. You two use to do a lot of walking and hunting together. Have you begun the process of cropping your pictures once you have downloaded or maybe it is called uploading your pictures onto your computer? With that dandy shot of the divers and the otter maybe you can crop it to bring it closer. What lense or lenses do you have?

I think I was using an 18-135mm Nikon for these shots. I've got a 70-300mm for Nature stuff, but it shoots kind of dark for PNW Waterfowl shots.

Hi Carl,

Yep, were over here in SE Asia.

Came back for part of the year to check in with mom and get her ready for winter & say good luck & thanks to the red dog before he crossed the river.

Traveling overseas and doing quarantines is a drag.

Happy New Year.
 
I hear yah, My wife is planning a trip back to Japan this coming summer and its not going to be easy.
Required testing & then quarantine for 5 days, then limited social interactions for another 5-10 days.
Its going to eat up half her time there.

Todd, when you had the Nikon, that was a great camera. I have no idea as to the f. stops of your 18-135mm lens but to get rid of the darkness it requires you to buy a deep pocket lens like an F2.8 lens. That is on my wish list for my Canon. The one I want would be the 70-200 L 2.8 with an image stablizer. That will help make the picture spot on with no blurring.

Good luck with what you can find in the used market.
