The "good" wife!

Geez...am I getting spoiled or what? It's 8:30 am, the morning after a short, "zero" duck hunting trip. I'm trying to establish a pattern on the geese using a local pond. I haven't hunted them yet and am "saving" the opportunities for when things are slow at the Mississippi camp (like right now).
My wife asked me if there was anything I needed from the grocery store as she was leaving right now. I said. "No, but Hey! could you swing by the pond and see if there are any geese are on it?" Five minutes later, she calls from her "scouting trip" and says, "The pond and bean field are empty. Do you want me to check it on the way back?"

Thats great man.

My wife tells everyone that Im absolutely eat up with waterfowling and fishing. She's about right too. We were talking the other day before the storm as we picked up the 18 wheeler load of toys around the side yard. A flock of geese were heading towards us over the creek behind the house and in mid sentence, she stopped talking, turned her ear up, and listened and scanned for the geese. I busted out laughing because she has given me heck for the same thing. Seems the waterfowl bug can be contageous.

Hehe. That's funny. My wife texted me the other day...."Just thought you'd like to know that there's 4 geese sleeping on the bank in our yard." Great, the house is 7 mintues from work and I'm in a meeting.

My wife called me with duck and goose sightings along 127 from Lansing to Clare today. Sounds like there are some fresh birds coming down...

My wife called me and asked me to pick up a few things at the grocery store on the way home. Damn:(

Jim, you are blessed! Nice to have that partner who is so helpful. It is a two way street and that's what it is all about.
I normally don't hunt on weekends and one morning Bev woke me up at 3:30 on Saturday and said, "Al, I think you should go after the ducks. Listen to that wind howling outside." It was a great hunt.

I have four children. Two girls ages 8 & 9 and two boys ages 11 & 13. My boys hunt with me and my girls are in training. The boys are in charge of loading the guns, ammo, and chow. Dad takes care of the rest.

Last week we were preparing to hunt on a little creek in our marsh. The dekes were set and we were just off loading our gear and preparing to add a little local grass to our layout blinds when we discovered that we had everything but guns! It was 45 minutes until shooting time and home was a 5 minute boat ride and a 30 minute truck ride (one way) away.

After staring at each other for some time, I (we) summoned the nerve to call my wife. When I awakened her and conveyed our most humble request, she never hesitated.

We finished brushing our blinds, and motored back to the ramp to meet my wife. When she arrived and rolled down the window, I could see she still had on her pajamas under he polarfleece pullover. My girls were curled up in the back seat of her truck under a blanket and our guns were neatly arranged on the middle seat. The minute her window was all the way down, she smiled and said: "sorry I didn't get you a coffee on the way, but the girls were slow getting out of the house"

As I was thanking her repeatedly, she said: "gimme a kiss and get out of here. I don't want you guys to be late!"

They dont make many like that, you better hold onto that one!!!!

My wife is unique in that she will refuse teal meat, but will take all the bufflehead I can shoot. For a diver hunter like me, that is fantastic.

Nelson, that's great...
Last January 25th my son was born. In early March we had a snow goose trip. So I told her we were leaving to hunt 3 days & would be gone 3 nights.. She looked at me and said "could you hunt 2 days please?" I said "No Problem".. How many wives would let their husbands go away for 2 nights hunting, while nursing a 2 month old ?

These days very few wives would. Fortunately, there are still good ones out there.
