The horses

When I was a teenager, I had a kind and beautiful girlfirend up near the south end of the valley, Almost in California.
There were some horses next door that were in rough shape.

She watched them for about 6 months and mentioned them to me a few times,

I didn't know much about horses, but i knew what it looked like when one has so many ticks on it that you can not even find it's neck, ribs showing.

We dusted the horses one night about sundown, and in the morning, we took their horses to a pasture.. .We took them, flat out. We stole them.

I believe it was the right thing to do. They had no one to speak for them.
Outlaws are different than criminals..

Do what is right anytime you have a chance to. This is the code to live by and it will keep you and those around you better than they would have been otherwise.

We rode those horses to Emigrant lake across the railroad bridge and a train came along.. It was an exciting ride... then we let them swim in the lake.. They loved it, and had fattened up a bit... as kids, that was about the best we could do.. The neighbors never said a word.

Do the best you can.. Today and every day.
