The last weekend

Well, this was the last weekend for our florida season until next september. :( I went down and hunted with Hitch for the last weekend. Saturday was slow to begin with. we left our initial spot about 0900 and moved...having one teal in the boat and one lost to the weeds. Our next spot was much better. I made an awesome shot on a mottled...would've been one of those kodak moment pictures to see the holy bejeezus!!! I actually hit it! I admit that it was a sky bust shot, but she dropped hard. So not wanting to lose it to the weeds as well, I went right out and picked her up. Grinning from ear to ear of course. Then while I was out, I stopped and picked up a teal I shot. I didn't think the SEG I've got could get any bigger after that mottled....I was WRONG!!!! I picked up a banded drake BW!!!!!!!!!!! After much hootin' and hollerin' on my part, and a few muttered words on Hitch's I got all set back up. More teal buzz through, a few wigeon and such and such. I almost got a limit, Hitch did, but we lost some birds. A great day!!!!!!!! Sunday, was bluebills...took Shah out to the river and let him fetch us up our limit of bluebills. Weather turned real interesting as the day went on. Hitch has pictures and says that he'll put some up later. That is the third band this season for me and third ever! He was banded in Alberta on 08/23/2004. Way too cool!!!! What a way to finish the season!!!

not sure yet....will let ya know when I get the certificate :)

Congrats Dani. Following you persuits this year it sounds like you had a good season. It makes the anticipation for next season all that much more fun.

Take care,

Ed L.

Good shootin leetle gurl! Jeesh, the only DUCK bands I have were given to me by an Indian..errr..Native American. Congrats on those..that's about 40 years worth of band luck ya know.

Yeah...you dug deep into your Karma this season. The fact that you don't have one single greenhead band on your lanyard is sad to me. I mean...a woodie, a mottled and now this breakfast duck. C'mon...getchyerself a greenhead girl! ;0)

A banded BWT is a nifty deal. I shot one in '05 in Nodak. I love that little band-love those little teal too.

What a season!

the one I shot was banded in SK near Yorkton.

I'm gonna take a wild assed guess and say your's was banded 7 miles east of Mirror Lake, AB.

Keep us posted.

Ya can't ask for more than that Dani. What a great way to end the season, THREE bands in ONE season is nearly unheard of. There are plenth of duck hunters that have yet to get a banded bird after years of hunting. Good on ya!
BTW I answered your email.

yah yah yah I'm sure I dug deep into that band luck/karma, but there is about 9 months for me to replenish it for the next season :-D or the season after, or the season after.

having my mother (who IS named after a Goddess, which I think is not good for that ego of hers :pP ) I don't think helps my chances any :) I am just a diligent and respectful worshiper of the Duck Gods and say my prayers before and give my thanks after every hunt. It's not my fault the Duck Gods have looked upon me with favor this year. Next year....who knows? :p
