The Tolman Skiff as a multi-use Duck Boat?

i havent seen too much talk on here about the tolman skiff but it looks like a nice boat. any thoughts and opinions about its design and function as a duck boat? seems like it would be a great open water tender boat for layout hunting. a good water taxi for rough water. might be a tough boat to hide on a shoreline with its tall sheer but maybe it could be done with a low blind? anyone here have any experience with this boat? thanks alot, mark

Hi Mark..quite a bit of interest has been shown by some guys here. I think Pete McMiller wants one BAD!. I think for big water the right paint job would work great.

Mark,

I have been looking at the Tolman for that reason for a while now. I have Renn's book with the current plans and 'hope' to start on a widebody sometime this winter. I agree with Lee that with the right paint job it could be a good open water boat. Obviously you are not going to hide a 21 1/2 foot boat with that high a shear like you would a layout but I still think it would be a good platform.

After hunting out of Sutton's big boat on open water I became a believer. He doesn't seem to have much touble decoying ducks with his size boat.

Pete
