Dear fellow DBHF friends -

Tom has suffered a set back earlier today. I don't have permission from the family to go into details but will post more information when I hear back. Tom really needs some good mojo and strong prayers sent his and Deb's way. Please keep him and his family in your thoughts today and going forward.

I visited with Tom and his family this past weekend and while he looked thin and a little weaker than his normal self, he was upbeat and positive. His sister and Brother in law were staying with Deb and Tom to help out.

I don't have the ability to look up Barb's number right now but I did share it in an earlier posting. While she may not be able to respond at the time, any thoughts sent her way would be appreciated.

Stay strong my friend.

Mark

Thanks Mark for the update. I too am happy to hear about Tom remaining upbeat. Lots of thoughts heading his way.

Thanks for keeping us in the loop, Mark. I checked Caring Bridge but didn't see anything new, so appreciate you taking the time.

I have heard back from Barb (Tom's sister) who said I can post the information regarding Tom on this public forum. It isn't going to be easy. Everything below in quotes is directly from Barb.

"This is hard to send by text.... but harder to make phone calls right now. I have sad news. Tom suffered a major stroke this morning. He has brain bleed and was taken by ambulance to the hospital. They put in a breathing tube but when the neurosurgeon told us their diagnosis, we declined surgery of any kind. They removed the breathing tube and he is comfortable. Deb (Tom's wife) and I are by his side....Pray for comfort and peace"

And

"If anyone wants to visit at Methodist they sure can. Tom is on comfort care. He is not awake...and won't be as far as we know. So just so anyone knows that. He seems comfortable"

As mentioned, I visited with Tom last weekend. He had thinned quite a bit and was a little weak but he still has his tender way about him, his sense of humor and his beard was back. He was searching for words and seemed to get lost a couple of times. He was talking about his upcoming summer and the many places he and Deb were going to visit. His spirits were high and he remained positive. Tom's sister and brother in law were down from North Dakota to help Deb out. Tom's sister is every bit the kind soul that is Tom.

If there was ever a time for prayers and hope, now would be that time. If you get a minute, send a text to Barb and she can read it to Tom. You have no idea how much Tom appreciates the folks on this site that he calls his friends. Barb can be reached at (701) 371-1050.

Thank you -

Mark

Thank you Mark,

I am at a bit of a loss for words.

I don't think I have ever met a nicer or happier man than Tom.

....sending prayers for Tom and his family during this difficult time. I never knew Tom; however, from reading everyone's kind words about Tom, I know that he was a great guy.

Thank you Mark for keeping us updated on Tom's condition.
This is very sad news. I will continue to pray for Tom's family so
they can get through these trying times. Rest in Peace Tom.
