Too old?.....almost....

We all still have a little puppy left in us!

You've done well by her, she looks great for 14...

I enjoyed that video - you can see the special bond that's there - between y'all

Jim

I've followed you and your pack for a number of years. Great training and great dogs. Glad she is still going with you. My 10 year old yellow still thinks he is a pup too. He and I benefitted years ago from your training set ups.

Very nice video Jim.

Thanks for sharing!

I'm on my sixth lab. I've yet to have one make it past thirteen and a half.

Hi Brad,

I just wanted to thank you for what was said in your post. It was nice of you to take the time to do that.

It recently "dawned" on me that my youngest Lab is nine years old. So I did some serious looking and sent in a deposit on a pup. Hopefully, Taffey will be around to play a bit with her.

Age kind of sneaks up.

So your pup is 9 years old. Jim, maybe in three or four more years you might start looking for another pup. I loved that. Seeing old dogs still giving it their "all" is very special. Thanks for this treat, Jim!

Al, I presently have three Labs. Daisy is 9 (the youngest), Kooly is almost 12 and of course Taffey. A deposit on female pup was mailed in last week a day before the litter was whelped.

I will be 74 in August and seriously thought about whether to take on another pup. She may be the one pup that out lives me. The again, I am not "going".

Hey Jim, I thought about that once, too, for about a 1/2 second! We had a guy from Albuquerque call and wonder if we had an older dog for him. He told me he was 80 years old and didn't want a pup because most likely it would out live him. It just so happened that we were retiring Pepper as soon as her pups are gone. Well this guy is one happy camper and will come pick up our girl this summer. I told him how much she likes going for 4 wheeler rides and he said, "Do you think she will like my golf cart?" Heck, one day I took Pepper out of the kennel to go scouting ducks with me. As we walked towards the truck and trailer with the Mule on it, Pepper took a flying leap and before I knew it, she was sitting behind the steering wheel of the Mule all ready to go.

Jim,
I don't post much but I couldn't pass this up. By far the best thing I have seen on here in a long time. Thanks for sharing...it brought a big smile to my face.
My best,
Don

There is a reason that dog is so happy!

Taffey was like that from the time the litter pick was selected. She just enjoyed each and every moment. Nothing ever bothered her.....it was all good in her mind. What a joy is was to work with a dog that always responded with "That was fun! What's next?"

Last summer during a training session with my younger dogs she revealed the end was nearing. It was time to balance feeling sad with a celebration of her life.

Just recently I created this slide show which shows just how much fun we had.
