Tropical wood for duck call...

A question for the call makers out there. My folks are down in Panama for the next week. When dropping them off at the airport, my dad asked me if there was anything I wanted from down there. I couldn't think of anything, except for maybe a piece of tropical wood for a duck call or knife handle. I have no idea what type of wood grows down there, but what wood would make a good call and how much of it would I need?

Thanks for any insights.

Not sure if they could legally bring a piece back of anything...agriculture products are watched pretty damn closely at the borders. They may be able to bring you back something MADE out of a hunk of wood though and you could re-do it into a duck call.

Geez, I never even thought of that. Good point. I'll have to let them know.

I was in the Dominican Republic when I was younger and one of the guys in our group smuggled a cocunut that he found on the beach, into his carry-on. Don't even ask me how he didn't get nabbed at customs. The thing still had the green husk and stem on it and everything!
