these with the other males i posted earlier number 50.I had a harder time with painting the hens as in every pic off the net of the hens [Barrows andCOmmons]where different ,in particular was the beak color it swang from all black to all orange so i painted one side black and the other side orange just to cover my bet.

next question for you pros i tried numerous times to get the squiggly lines in the paint to imatate the feathers ,i failed so for next batch could someone please enlighten a some what dim bulb as to the hows toss of this paintin process,

Thanks in advance for the help

cory the Y boards are in canada as of the first of the month where since then ??its drivin me nuts waitin ,its been a real cold week minus 32 C on the winchill and only out for crows 1 time minus 4 chick killers,so being kooked up and waiting on the mail for the Y`s and a few other exciting things in the mail ,i feel like a kid when we used to wait for the sears mailorder or SIR mailorder to come in,every morning its maybe today the day then its jeeze maybe tomorrow,,,,,

All for now from Nova Scotia Canada

Sherm,

If I were you, I would stick to all drakes, the black white contrast can be seen for long distances and they are easy to paint. IMHO, Goldeneye don't care - they like the B/W bobbing in the waves.

Hey Sherman!

Good to hear they are in Canada! Hopefully, they get to you soon!

All of the pattern that I sent to you are for printing on 11" by 17" paper so they will be mag. size. I think I forgot to tell you that.

Let me know when they get there.

I have never laid eyes on that many goldeneye silly's in one place! I think the bill color varies with the season-as breeding season gets closer the bills color up as early on most are all black.

thanks here are the drakes i made earlier about 25 of them some are not in the pic

Cory do you have any in common mergansers Male`s or in common eider Male as well,

man its take a long time to get them here must be the brokers or the border police ..

ya thats what petersons book said as well thats why one side is black and the other is orange ,i little subterfuge on my part ,seeing how males are always thinking the wrong thing with the wrong thing anyway ,i figured he`d see an orange beak and say oh! she is in the mood and drop on in for a looky see .

im trying to get better at pickin on the males so i figured if half were females id get more males stopping by and like you said use the white males to get there attention and the females to seal there fate.

I bought a whack of Y boards from Cory enough to float 12 dozen silies of as many different kinds as possible im keepin busy mostly season went by to fast alot less deer huntin next year for sure.

i cant wait until NEXT YEAR! there i said it again lol

We have many goldeneye here in WA State, but I don't see them bunch up on our rivers in groups larger than about 15 until the barrow's arrive after the season. I made this cogo drake out of foam last summer and floated him this past season. Sorry about the poor pic quality, but you can get the idea.
