What's more rare than a good Alumacraft Ducker?

Anyone have any info on this model? I had seen one on Craigslist before and the guy I bought this one from said it was built in the early 60's...Going to contact Alumacraft tomorrow. More to come. Same hull as Ducker only 3 benches and the square stearn.

Ron,

SWEET!

Thanks for giving me a firsthand look at one of these "bad boys". I've heard of these and saw one for sale in Craigslist a year ago, but had never seen one in person, until yesterday. I sent you an email with an picture of an original vintage Aluma-Craft, two line logo. This was painted on the sides of the Ducker, and I'm assuming also on the Retriever.

If you want to turn an 100% profit on this boat, let me know.

P.S. If you keep buying boats, and driving 400 miles to get them, your wife will NOT think your duckboats are sexy"!!

You could drop a line to the Minnesota Maritime Museum in Alexandria, MN. They close for the season Oct 15 . . . Might be worth a drive over there to see the Duckboat Exhibit, which will end it's 2 year run in a few weeks.

They have an alumacraft retriever in the exhibit, but I haven't gotten there to see it. I would guess it's in original condition. At any rate, the fellow in charge of the exhibit would likely be able to give you more info on the boat.

Ron,

That is a great find, not sure if I had ever actually seen besides in a magazine or other article! A small aluminum boat like this is on my list of purchases for the next few years.

Hi Ron -

I think you've hit the limit on small aluminum duckboats that can be owned by one person. Time to start getting rid of a few.

Very nice boat. Where did you get this one?

Hey Mark, I sold one Ducker last year and also recently sold the cold molded sneak boat. This was a right place at the right time purchase. It was bought nw of Monticello.

Nick, I contacted the museum.....according to the write up on the one they have on loan there....only produced in 1958, 205 boats produced. According to Alumacraft in St. Peter, they are listed on the same page as the ducker in 1959, 1960, and 1961 catalogs...Must have been a few left over from the production run.

Lucky find second time around....I actually had one in Alaska that the transom had been wrecked and someone cut it to ten ft and put a wood transom in. I got ahold of it and had an aluminum transom welded in. Sold it to a dog training buddy in Anchorage before I moved back to the lower 48....I knew then that it looked like a ducker hull but had no idea what it really was....what kind of luck to have found the real thing close to home.

Art,

A friend has a Retriever that he bought used but he has never used it. It has original paint. He will sell it for best offer.

Hey Ron -

I know this i going to be hard to believe. When I was out west for the opener, one of the groups staying at the same lodge had an alumnacraft retriever just like the one in your picture. I went over and looked at it and sure enough - same boat. I asked the guys if they knew what they had and no one did. When told how rare the boat was, they seemed to take interest. To say this boat was beat up is an understatement.

Cool looking boat.
