which brand of artist oils?

Well, I've finally finished carving my first gunning rig and I am currently sealing them with boiled linseed oil. I plan on using a base coat with rustoleum and a top coat with artist tube oils. I plan on buying my artist oils on ebay because of the deals on there. I've seen 40 to 50 tubes of artist oil go anywhere from $50 t0 $150 depending on the colors and brand. My question is... The two most popular brands on ebay is Grumbacher PreTested Oils and Winsor Newton Artist oils. Does anyone have a preference? I noticed that the Winsor Newton Artist Oils go for a little less. Any thoughts would be appreciated. I did read a while back that K. Mueller liked the Grumbacher PreTested Oils, which right now I would assume to go with. Anyone had experience with Winsor Newton? I'm alwaying interested in saving a little money if I'm getting just a good of a paint. Thanks.

Grumbacher Pre-Tested are great for Decoys. I've taken classes with two world champion carvers and they both had Grum PT in their personal paints. I love those deals when they come up.

I have used both, when I started with the oil paint the WN was the only brand available locally for me
after I painted for a while I needed some more paint and like you I saw everyone recommending GPT, so I bought some to try
there is a big difference IMO, the grumbacher seems to have more oil, and better pigments, they apply and blend easier imo, they seem very smooth compared to WN brand. and in reality are only a little bit more money than the Windsor newton. I've never tried Old holland brand, but I would think they are even better than grumbacher. maybe someday I will feel the need to lay out $25 for a small tube of paint, but until then I am sticking with the grumbacher.

Old Holland oils are great, but spendy. You can find some selections on ebay once in a while. The Grumbacher pretested oils are also good and can be mixed in with the OH to speed drying.
