Would like to see some other folks? attempts Once the season is over and the dodger and vegetation comes off it seems a sin not to use it...

    Alligators in North Alabama

Years ago I was at a hunting retriever test when the southern judge set up an interesting test. Simple single plopped into a pond. You sent the dog and halfway there the judge said? Gator, recall your dog.? It was a good test of obedience. A lot of the handlers were angry with the test. Dana...

New to the forum! Heres my higbee!

Thanks so much for the private message. Took your advise and ordered the dodger from eBay. I also have a raffia cover for the boat. It should be easy to attach raffia to the dodger. Have a great season.

North Carolina and South Carolina Guys: please check in

We have not been home since Flo struck. We left on the Tuesday before and went to our place in the Pocono Mtns in Pennsylvania. We had never had water come up to the house before this. We live on a canal off the Neuse River about5 miles south of down town New Bern. Water came into our garage but...

Did you ever have a gun that just spoke to you?

I have a sweet Ithaca 16 gauge side by side I love to carry for woodcock hunting. Can?t hit a thing with it. Should have replaced it years ago. Come opening day it will be my go to gun again and again. Don?t know why it means so much to me. I would never get rid of it, whether I hit anything or...

Adding camo to folding beaver tail blind

i have a beaver tail blind for my 18 foot boat. I intend to do more early season puddle duck shooting and want to inhance the camo. Problem is the camo must fold up so you can roll the canvas up to transport the boat. Cat tails or other hard stick type is out of the question. I thought of only...

A woodworking question for you guys

When I first started working for the health dept I was in the food unit. Butcher blocks were required to not be “dished”, could not hold a puddle on top. A service was available to them to correct the block. They would sand or cut the top of the block level again. You could tell which blocks had...

How to make an inexpesive mooring buoy - looking for suggestions.

If you put a dowel through the bouy, then put a weight on the bottom of the dowel, the dowel will stand up. Makes it easy to pick up when you come back. If the bouy and weight are large enough you might be able to hook the mooring line to the top of the dowel and that would keep it clean

Did you ever drop a duck into your boat

Not a duck or goose but a pheasant. I was working a retriever at a driven pheasant shoot. The gun shot a high incomer and my lab never had to move just opened his mouth to catch it. Drove him back about ten feet, thought it was going to kill him. None the worse for the experience, scared me more...

    Gas can safety

ive always used a small outboard motor with a self contained gas tank. I’ve now purchased an 8 hp engine and it has a remote tank. I am concerned with putting a gas tank under the deck on my fiberglass Higbee sneakbox. Do I have to worry about gas vapor accumulating belowdecks? I would not want...

Easy way to patch small holes on aluminum boat

Easy fix is 5200. I had a very old aluminum boat and once I used 5200 on the rivets I never had to redo another one.

    Homemade paint jobs for boat/motor

I don't know what size motor you have but on my small motor, three and a half hp, I just put an old camo tee shirt over it. It is also the dinghy motor for this sailboat so the Admiral wants it to look pretty. The big motor,60 hp, I have a camo canvas cover for it. Again too nice to paint over...
