    Great Loop Jon Boat

Interesting dude with quite a history. I enjoyed the adventure. I had hoped he would have taken the route across Illinois to the Mississippi River where I live rather than the Illinois River. I would have loved to have traveled with him a bit but then he wouldn't have beat the record. Too many...

    Brain trust plumbing help...

So let me understand. You unscrewed the head. Then you pulled the rod and plunger. Then you uncrewed the outside pipe from the brass fitting and pulled the stand pipe or are you looking down the stand pipe in the photo you uploaded?

    Brain trust plumbing help...

If you'd asked about this 30 years ago I'd have sent you a new Clayton Mark yard hydrant with a replacement valve like this. I lead the team that designed this. Anyway you need to pull the hydrant and replace the bass valve body and rubber plunger. It doesn't matter what manufacturer you replace...

Going for the dumbest mistake of the years award.

I went back to transom straps when my winch strap broke and my bow chain came loose. I was using a gunnel strap and the boat slipped under it and my skeg hit the pavement. That was an expensive fix!

    Boat Cover Materials

Seal Skin covers is what I used for my CC boat down there. Ive never found anything that hold up well. Especially anything Max? Within a few months they turn red and faded. Even here in Illinois you're lucky to get 6 mos. Down there. I got a light weight green canvas tarp and painted foliage...

Zack taylor widgeon new to me

Coast guard abbreviations were established before the postal service abbreviations which I knew was in the 60's. Actually 1963. I looked it up. For Instance the Coast guard abbreviation and postal matches Illinois with IL. Your unsolicited junk mail for Saturday night!😊

    Shooting School

After 20 some years of shooting I seeked help. The guy told me all I had to do was stop lifting my head of the stock when I pull the trigger! A habit I don't think I'll ever be able to stop!

    Prop question.....

Thank Dave. Seriously thinking of buying a another at the proper size. Then decide which will be the spare. I didn't hit the stump hard but see a scuff on the original prop at the housing. Think I'll setup a dial indicator and check run out of the prop shaft too. I'm told tolerance of .004 is...

    Prop question.....

I banged my prop on a stump last fall and was told it would cost $75 to straighten it out. I bought a Stainless and it sat on the shelf until a couple of months ago. I found out my Suzuki doesn't like heavy props. So I just bought a new Solas aluminum replacement. I've had good luck with this...

    Duckboats.net in the news

I found it to be a well written article. The subject matter is very important and would be a shame to lose the history and science. I was able to read it but it also had a link to listen to the article. Those that can't access the written article may be able to listen to the article.

    Who needs a boat trailer!

NP Brad. Thanks for looking. After spending half the day looking for my fuse box that controls the 12v accessories receptacles, I found a blown fuse. The original motor has an internal short so I'm hoping that's what blew the fuse.

    Who needs a boat trailer!

No manual option. Mine is strictly motorized. I do had all the manuals and paperwork. I'll take a look and see if there's anything on the manual option. Yes. They are still in business and it doesn't seem anything has changed as far as controller or motor assembly. It will be interesting to see...
