Access to private land in Southern Ontario has become challenging enough for residents unless they have local connections. Not sure what reception an American hunter will get seeking permission nowadays, given the tensions that have unfortunately boiled up. For a first trip you may want to...
If you can get the vaccine go for it - any side effects are minor compared to suffering from shingles! I have had shingles twice. First time 25 years ago New Year's Eve Y2K due to stress from work. Rash on my head and affected my eye. Looked like a Klingon. Got the vaccine when it became...
Your post reminded my of my copy of The Wildfowler's Quest which I set out to obtain after browsing through a copy in a library at Remington Farms. I had really enjoyed my signed copy of The Wings of Dawn which helped set my on my waterfowling path some 30+ years ago, so when a saw another book...
When I bought my TDB Classic 14 with a 9.9 Johnson the carb intake and air box was completely filled with mouse nest. There was also an unmistakable mouse bouquet when I lifted the cockpit cover off the boat but only a little bit of damage to a corner of a blind panel. I think the boat and...
I have one by Kobuk, never used it. Bought it years ago for layout boat hunting but decided my Camo Mustang Floater Coat was a better option for safety. Both coats trap your perspiration with any exertion.
Very nice find especially with all the literature and duck calling record.
I have a 1966 Folding Ducktwin. Before I acquired Go-Devils I sought out Johnson and Evinrude 3 HP motors with the 'Anglematic' weedless drive for use at my cottage and duck club marsh which are very weedy. I bought...
I agree balance can be an issue. It really helps to have a grab bar, or at least an "Alaskan Bridle", which is a short length of rope with a loop you hang on to as a handle, which is tied to the boat a little in front of you so you pull on it to keep standing upright.
I remember reading on the Mud Motor Talk forum that many folks felt that the lightweight Thai mud motors were not rugged enough to run in swamp/marsh conditions.
I bought a 6.5 HP Go-Devil long tail mud motor which is very very rugged and have used it on a 12' car topper, a 15'4" Gheenoe and...
Agree the Johnson/Evinrude 3-4 HP with weedless props are great for hunting small waters. And with two cylinders they troll much more smoothly than a one-lunger. My favourite is a 1966 Folding Ducktwin.
I tried using the install link on my iPhone. I get a rapidly scrolling video and at the bottom there is a message saying the feature requires accessing the site using the built-in Safari browser. So I guess the app is just for Android devices?
I have a 15'4" Gheenoe Hi-Sider which I used to run with a 6.5 HP Go-Devil. Very stable. Also had 14' and 16' Scott Duckboats which were basically square stern canoes with a copy of the Gheenoe bottom, also very stable.
I don't think an aluminum Gheenoe would save much weight, and I doubt...
I didn't get the email. I tried to enter the site today and when I couldn't log in I selected "Forgot My Password" and followed the link in the email that was triggered. Set a new password and voila I am able to access the new site. I am really impressed by the new site - nice work Eric!
I used a 15'4" Gheenoe HiSider with a 6.5 HP Go-Devil for several years until I acquired a 14' TDB Classic , which now has the Go-Devil.
The Gheenoe worked well in our club's marsh, though I never made a blind for it and hunted from the shoreline instead. With the TDB grassed up I can hunt...
