Anyone remember a carver named Don McKinley ? Vince or George????

Hi Steve, I talked to him a while ago but don't recall where he lives. He carved a few shorebirds for us a while ago, when Gene owned the Company...pre-96. I still have the patterns and molds but haven't had the time to fire them up. Later partner, Lou

    Duane G.

He is sorely missed. One of my favorite friends. I loved his blackened duck at Westlake.

    Ammo

At Cabelas (10 minutes from my shop), they get ammo in 2 days a week if I recall. The same fellas are lined up way ahead of time to be there to get all they want. They are first in line to purchase and clean out the inventory before regular folks can get in. That's hoarding in my book. If...

Aggravating neighbor dog and bark boxes

I cured a past dog next door who used to do the same when i was mowing the lawn. So, when I got to that area and the boxer came to the fence barking, I just turned the mower off and the load back-fire effectively cured him of that. After a few episodes, when I came to mow, he high tailed it to...

Black Bellied whistling Duck in Wisconsin

Gene and I did a bunch of hunting Black Bellied Tree ducks down in South Texas with our buddy, Fred Bremner. Fred was in charge of the PHD program at Trinity University in San Antonio and had been doing research on those birds for some time. He was successful in setting up 5 self sustaining...

    My first Restle Decoys

Great job Steve. Impressive. The Restle Decoys never looked that cool. Years ago I bought some from Carl Herscheryl and still have them. Back in the late 80's-early 90's, my buddy, Gene, and I set out to find a decoy company to buy. The first we looked at was Restle and spent a good part...

    Foam Decoy Repair

Sorry but great stuff is not a good alternative for repairs. It's too porous and wants to push the parts away when curing/expanding. It also doesn't hold like you'd expect. Medium thick super glue for a model airplane hobby shop: Jet, Zap/etc. Lou
