Hi Joe,
I have built several garveys, all have a washboard along the top of gunnel. I've included some pictures of how they are normally framed. You may be able to modify it to work for your project.
Another sweet find! We pulled this southbay from its resting place of the last 20 years. Full of new herters 72's and what looks to be an original dodger that came with the boat.
Her bones are good and soon she'll be outfitted to match my rig.
Crazy to see the difference. Ive worked commercially 10 years in TOH. In high school necks were 18 cents a piece 10 years ago and I thought that was good, getting that for large now. Not a bad thing but crazy to think how prices have gone up since
Bill,
I love jacking, still manage to get a few bushels every night in September and eels here and there. Was actually going to use my south bay for it this summer, just gotta find a spot to put the lanterns
Carl,
No plans but very simple build. Basically a rectangle with the transom angle of 13 degrees. The curvature in the front starts at about 1/3 of the total length. The rise in the bow is just under 6" in that length, Totally flat aft- no rocker. Going to get some rub rails which should help...
Bill, it is just under 4ft in width so that it can fit in a truck bed between wheel wells. the length is 11' 4". I built an outboard plank that will be carriage bolted through the transom, originally planned on a 9.9
2 runners will be carriage bolted through the floor once it is glassed to keep...
Thought I would share, this grass boat I started to build after work and on weekends prior to this season. Recently having picked up a SBDB I was unsure what to do with it. I couldn't let it go un finished and will be glassing it soon.
All fir major frames and syp for small stuff, 1/2 ac...
Steve,
thanks for the help. I will be sure to post the rehab of my boat once warmer weather arrives. This boat never had flap boards and I am looking forward to finally being able to conceal my 100lb swamp collie.
Steve,
I find myself studying your posts, the information you have made available is invaluable and a great resource. I have some very dry PT lumber and plan on making a motor board of your design allowing for drainage. The floor boards will be coming out this summer and the pinholes into my...
Paul,
I plan to make the exact changes you mentioned and have the floorboards ride the boats ribs. I found it odd that the boards are secured with fasteners to the ribs. I've only hunted in one other SBDB and that boat as well had its boards screwed down, led me to believe it was either factory...
