    Devlin BB3 in aluminum

William, I have about $2800 into it. $1100 was aluminum. That was in 2005, aluminum is probably twice that now. That's what I liked about Devlin's boats, they're designed very seaworthy. The BB3 has a little deeper V hull compared to the 2 version. One of the area's I hunt is Saginaw Bay...

    Devlin BB3 in aluminum

There are no dumb questions. I used an aluminum cutting blade in a worm drive circular saw. The brand is Tenreu or something like that. They are carbide and the teeth have a negative hook angle. I built a 12" spaced 4X8 array of 1x2 firing lumber to lay on the floor, laid the aluminum on it...

    Devlin BB3 in aluminum

Thanks for the kind words HuntinDave! I definitely like your anchor solution better, I'll file that idea away for future use. As far as draft, it drafts the depth of the rocker. You can see in the last pic, the chine is just at water level in the stern. Since that picture was taken, I've...

    Devlin BB3 in aluminum

I'm guessing weight at around 300#. I bought 320# of aluminum, I still have some left. The floor board is 1/2" ply. Two men can lift easily. Devlin lists 25hp as the design limit. It goes 27 according to GPS. Much better than the 6-7 with the mud motor. It makes an awesome fishing boat...

    Devlin BB3 in aluminum

I TIG welded it with a Miller square wave unit. That's not the best way but at the time it's what I had. MIG is the better way but a pulsed welder is required for thin material and they were expensive. I used .080 aluminum which is thin for MIG welding. The problem with TIG is that the weld...

    Devlin BB3 in aluminum

I've been lurking here for two decades, and have been going to post this about that long too. I found this site while researching duck boats. It was a wealth of information. Eric had just built his BB and posted pictures, I fell in love with it. There was another fellow who built a Scaup...
