First of all, Tod, that's nuts. I made a couple jigs for my circular saw to do scarfs. The one in back of the picture is for plywood. It screws to the circular saw base (table) and acts a fence so I can run it along the edge. Of course it does not have the depth to go all the way through over...
Boat looks great! I think you made a the right move in going to an outboard. lot more space in the boat. I'll leave the springers to you. I have a few buddies who will get after the them but If I have time this spring I will be chasing tiger muskies (I'm a glutton for punishment). I used to do a...
I have mahogany runners on my boat. This species was chosen because It was given to me... That said It has held up for 15 years but I do not beach my boat often. A few years ago it was getting pretty beat up towards the bow. I just crawled under the boat hit it with the plane to clean it up and...
I am glad to hear that Dave is still making them. I was planning on getting a couple form Diane beforet the season. The ones I have had help up better than anything else by far,
I would agree that a dealer will not get teh motor dialed in correctly. The past 2 motors I purchased were installed by the dealer. Both were installed way to low and were over proped. When I got my 40hp Yamaha the dealer said that it "sounded" like it was running at about 5500 RPM. I put a tach...
I have an old #12 Waring Commercial grinder that has worked well for me but the last couple times I have used it just seems like it is at the end of it's useful life. The motor seems to be struggling more that it used to. So I am starting to shop around for a new one. A #12 is big enough since I...
Henry , I welded a cap on the back of the hitch and then sealed it with 5200 to be sure it wouldn't leak. I used the plugs in the links below. They have rubber gaskets and have not leaked. I ran a piece of PVC from the plug opening to the bulkhead so I could run the wires. The bow is filled with...
I almost forgot. I put Glove It on the bottom and it has held up well for 15 years. However Like Tod said its best just to avoid rubbing anything on the bottom if you can help it. I always use 2 anchors on the bow and stern instead of beaching the boat if possible.
I will chime in here. I do not have a snow goose but do have a boat very similar. I designed it by looking a lot of pictures of the Snow Goose
I used Lou's FME paint on my boat and it has held up very well. I used Interlux Intergrip to create a non slip surface on the deck and it has worked out...
