Jay, I have a 17 ft St. Lawrence and it is awesome for hunting. The flat bottom makes it a very shallow draft of only about 3 inches. I have an older 20 hp Merc on it and that is all you would need for it. It responds extremely well to steering and can turn on a dime. Great for shallow water...
