I once had a Mossberg 640 K .22 mag that had the same problem . It seemed like the plastic grip/triggerguard had shrunk and straightened so it didn't fit the curvature of the grip. I made a replacement out of steel bar stock, using drill press, hacksaw and files.

Looks like a Garret Wade pattern maker's vise. It's pictured on their website, but listed as currently unavailable.
