Cold Snap

Wow, what a cold snap. Forecast is for lows in the single digits and teens all the way to Gulf Coast. Snow in Alabama Monday.
Crazy cold in the upper Midwest.
Y’all be safe, be prepared and stay warm.
Who’s going hunting??

Been waiting for a cold snap like this. Have plans to go out but just not sure where yet. Maybe the creek, maybe the river, maybe the sound; guess it depends who wants to go out with me.

Everyone be safe and hope y'all get the ducks feet down in the decoys.

I will be off all week. Hoping the woodcock decide that FL is a good destination with this cold snap.

Been waiting all year for some cold weather and snow. No time now to pack it in. I'll be out as soon as the wind shift to NW which is later this week. Get me some honks.....

We have some teens predicted here this week (including tonight). Last week of season, too little too late. :(.

In Wyoming Monday night is predicted to be -23.

-18 here right now. *#@$%@ gas meter froze up last night. Tried to keep it going all night with some warm water over the regulator. Worked for a while. Gas company showed up at about 5am to change it, new one leaked, had to have another one brought over, 7:30 the heat is back on....I need a hot shower and a long nap, this past week has been crazy.

... or too much too late. Ohio River made a BIG jump during the past week. But I'd rather have too much water than too little.

A week of harsh temps (in the teens all day/ single digits or below zero at night) will complicate things as the River level drops - think a sheet of ice down every ramp for a while 🥶.
Yesterday it was 20 degrees when I left the house, but I figured I could get in one more hunt before the bottom dropped out. Water back into the trees where one can usually tie off on the bank when the water is right; so we tied off to some flooded trees in order to have a shooting lane.

Think I might be done for that least a week. If temps normalize, there is always the hope that I can catch a few outings during the very tail end of duck season (runs 'til the 28th) or get out a few times during the late goose season which ends in mid- February.
10 degrees here this a.m. In the words of Merle: "Think I'll just stay here and drink." 😏

Build a small fire beneath it - duh.

My niece is married to an H/VAC guy. He had me try a few thing to narrow down the problem. Once we figured out it was a gas source issue he told me to use a hairdryer or pour some hot water over it. He also said not to use a torch...and don't ask how he knows that. 🤔😄

My second choice was to piss on it.

This is one of those weeks I really wish I was back in Mobile.
I assume Eric and Thomas are out there this weekend. Hopefully he will have some good luck

Love the fire in your dog's eyes.

A buddy of mine hunted Northwest Mississippi this morning. Said it was unbelievable. 5 man limit in under 2 hours.

Wow, that river climbed fast. Glad you were able to get out. -11 at 9pm. River is pretty hard here. Some guys broke Ice yesterday looking for some geese but this storm has pretty much moved them all out. Season ends the 18th.
