Preface: Carl is one of the longest members of Duckboats and one of the most frequent contributors. Prior to moving to FL, he lived in Mobile and regularly treated us to his hunts from Mobile Bay for divers and gadwalls. Several years ago he moved to FL. We are glad he and his family have evacuated from Hurricane Milton But, having evacuated myself, twice, while I lived in HHI, it is a crummy feeling to watch the storm on TV and wonder/worry. While this prayer is for Carl’s home, I am using him as our own “local representative” for all the people and property in the focus of Hurricane Milton. Larry Eckart
“In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Dear Lord, once again we pray for safety in a storm. While we are hunting, we pray for wise decisions prior to hunting and wise captains while hunting as it pertains to weather and seamanship.
Now, Carl and many, many people are on land, but the land will become the sea. Thus, we pray for all the people who will be directly affected by the storm.
We give you thanks Lord, for individual lives, for the lives of our families and our friends, knowing, that life is more important than property. We ask your peace and provision to be with those who have evacuated.
We pray also for Carl’s home, that he and his family would have a home after the storm. We pray this also for many others.
For all those who must stay, first responders, public officials, health care workers, we pray for their safety.
And in the end Lord, after the storm passes, turn our hearts so that our conversation might not be, “who’s to blame,” but our conversation might turn to a statement of faith based on Genesis 1: ‘I believe in God the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth.’ And with such confession have our lives and families anchored through all the storms of life, be they weather, health, relationships, or all the other stormy issues of human life.
In the name of the One who walked on water and spoke to the wind with the result that, the water and the wind obeyed. Amen.”
