September Goose Season

Im gonna have to get a plane ticket next year if you keep posting this stuff up.... Love love love a good honker beat down.
Corns getting cut too normally we shoot 100+ birds just in the last week, but when it’s 80 out and blowing out of the south with birds that have been here for 2 weeks it’s definitely not worth a plane ticket lol. If it was last season I’d say get here tomorrow hahaha

Lol I am getting kicked in the teeth this year anyway. Good chance i miss most of my October hunting this year due to lovely home ownership projects. Some years being a home owner is so pleasant and some years I wish I had a land lord. new windows go in on tuesday and then I have to rip out drywall and insulation from leaky nasty windows. All the meanwhile I have family coming in for 2 weeks in a row. I swear they come at the worst times. As long as I am pulling a shotgun out by Nov, I will be a very happy man. Just dont tempt me with a good time for next year, Ill be flip flopping you hunts. Me there in Sept, and you here when its off the hook good.

lol yessir. With all my homes, it takes about 3-4 years to get them to the point they feel pretty prefect and it’s just maintenance. I’m about to pull a heloc on mine now and just get it all done I think, just getting impatient on this one. You’ll get it there though. Have faith. I’m not married and god didn’t bless me with the ability to have children… so can’t speak to any of that. I just say… good luck. Keep the pile pics coming, I love good pile pics.

Should... Not even cold yet lol. I need Canada to have good winter this year. Migrations last 3 seasons have been a little rough. Not used to having stale birds by first week of december. Need a constant vein of new birds coming in. If Canada fisherman are still chasing walleye in December and January again, I am doomed for another season.

Great pics. Our group has shot 376 so far since Sept. 2nd. Have had two 80+ bird hunts.

If all goes well this week/weekend we will kill 500 on the September season.

I am making goose jerky like mad right now

Damn that’s a lot of geese.
And jerky. I’ll pass on “inferno”!

And that’s a wrap! Ended the resident season with 239 birds. Not the big push we hoped for at the end, but had a few calendar birds come through. Regular season will be here before we know it. Time to get the grinder out and get to work before the venison starts to fill the freezer.

That is a great season. We've got one more weekend but we have a hurricane moving through. The drought this summer really put our corn crop behind schedule and now that it is time to cut we are having huge rains. We don't even have a quarter of the normal available cut corn to hunt. It has forced us to venture out quite far to find birds but the juice has been worth the squeeze.

Carl, the inferno isn't that hot. It's always a hit at work. I pulled that jerky off the dehydrator Monday night, I only have one small little sandwich bag left now

We have some cut corn, but the problem is that it’s so warm with these south winds they want to be in the hay still.

Well we couldn't help ourselves, last day of season was Monday and we wanted to break 500. Monday afternoon me and a buddy went, just 2 guns. We landed two groups perfect. Killed 20 out of 2 groups with 2 guns. 514 on the month!

It was short but sweet September season in Alaska. I took my son (30 yrs old) goose hunting. He's never been interested before. He's hooked now. Got his first goose and first Sandhill.
Now he's talking about next season and it's only 1 November.
Hook line and sinker.
