One of my buddies lives in Burgaw, NC, and said they got a bit of the devils dandruff also.Crazy indeed. We got it pretty good in coastal NC, as well.
The hunters are on the wrong side of the storm! Should be good in Cuba.Hope those of you that are hunting get a good push of ducks to finish the season!
Lol. That's his oldest child my nephew lol.Clinton John
You might want to check on your friend. Looks like he froze to death.
Your brother in PA is not the only one complaining about lack of snow. There's more snow in NOLA than at our house in Greenville, ME. The lakeside thermometer did hit -21 F this morning, so we got that going for us.This snowfall broke records all over south Alabama, some of which had stood since late 1890s.
And tomorrow morning will break most low temperature records for this day.
Crazy weather pattern, my brother in PA is complaining they dont have enough snow to get out the snowmobiles. But the lakes have plenty of ice for fishing.
Rub down door gaskets with silicone or even cooking oil. Doors won,t freeze shut then. My 2013 Sierra Pickup does it quickly without the lubricant. Not something you,ll normally worry about for sure in your area but you never know.Well, I got roughly an inch or so of ice.

And lost power in the wee hours of the morning as the storm blew through. Finally got it back just before the sun went down. While I have cold weather gear, I was still dreading a night in the 20s with a drafty house and a single space heater. Love our linemen here!!!!
I would have preferred the large amounts of snow vs the ice that had trees snapping and dropping all through the night. Made for a long night. Miraculously, my house and trucks survived even though we had lots of sound thumps to the roof.

But the dogs had a good time playing in the cold. Too bad the roads were icy...and my trucks frozen shut (no i don't have auto start) ...would gave been a good day to look for woodcock and woodducks.
What melted yesterday refroze and I woke to 23 here in sunny FL.
Who knew I could have frozen adventures in FL....several firsts....first time I couldn't open the trucks because of ice, first time hearing thunder in a snow/ice storm, first time lying awake at night listening to the eerie sounds of trees snapping and thudding under the weight of ice...all in FL!

I lost several pines in an ice storm that hit my NJ house. Sad to watch them go one after another My son lost trees at his house outside of RichmondThat was actually the first thing I thought about when I saw you guys got snow. Lucky for you guys, it seems to be mostly conifers and smaller deciduous broad-leafs. About a decade ago we had a freak large snow storm here in NJ in early October with all the leaves still on the trees. It was the stuff of nightmares. About half way into the storm, it was a nonstop chorus of "crack,crack....BOOM." I personally witnessed about a dozen large oaks come down. People were killed, homes destroyed, power out for weeks. Even up here in the MA/NE we are not immune to those freak, out of season or completely out of character storms.
Glad everyone made it through that down your way.
