Question for the TDB or similar owners

I have a 17 TDB and see a lot of pics of fully grassed boats/ blinds weather it’s natural or artificial vegetation.

For those of you that do that and leave the blind up all season in this condition, how far are you trailering and what speeds are you driving?

I’d like to be able to leave the blind up and grassed but worry that highway speeds will tear the grass/blind up. I travel up to 1:15 to the ramps at 60-70mph.

I have a 17’ Classic. I use the Stern Grass purchased around 80lbs of it. I used plastic netting for the under-layer and zip ties for fastening the grass. I’m able to remove the underlayer and roll the grass on / off at seasons close.

I have trailered this boat without any issues 65-70 miles, I also trailer a 14 Sea-Class same setup.

Hello Anthony,
I am also on Long Island and am looking for a 14 Sea-Class to get my kids into hunting. Hardly see any pop up for sale, maybe I'm looking in the wrong places. Any advice on where to look?
Thanks for your time
Eric

SC, especially 14s, are hens teeth... IDK how many were made, but they are rarely seen for sale. They hold value. If you are saying kids, and not kid, I would be looking for a 17ft. The 14 is a 2 man boat, maybe 2 man and a dog, but really tight for 3

My boat differs from a TBD, however, I grass mine similar to the way Anthony describes above.

I use synthetic Blindgrass Bundle grass, and attached it to plastic garden netting. The garden netting, in turn, gets connected to the boats grass rails with zip ties. I liken it to a ghillie suit for the boat. A few zip ties attaches and detaches the suit.

I've been doing it this way for four years. This year I pulled the boat over 2,400 miles at highway speeds of 80mph, regularly. As far as I know, I haven't lost a single blade of grass.

Eric,
Just saw a 17 for sale in New Hampshire. Posted it in the Seen Elsewhere forum if your interested

The 14 Seaclass might be an option for three people. It is a bit longer and the cockpit opening with the blind up is much larger than the 14 Classic.

We hunt a 14SC on Lake Champlain. 2 of us and a dog is snug. Not much room for decoys. We stash decoys on the floor under the side shelves and have gunnel bags fore and aft on both sides. Like I said, with a couple kids and Dad, your good, but 3 adults would not be a frequent situation that I would prefer. Definitely not doable in the 14 classic, that cockpit is tight at the shoulders.
