Prop question.....

I banged my prop on a stump last fall and was told it would cost $75 to straighten it out. I bought a Stainless and it sat on the shelf until a couple of months ago. I found out my Suzuki doesn't like heavy props. So I just bought a new Solas aluminum replacement. I've had good luck with this company and the price was $5 more than fixing my old prop. Now I realize I clicked the wrong cell on the website. I bought a 10.5" x 11p rather than the 10.25" x 12p that came on the motor. Research says this prop is good for heavy loads but will be a bit slower and rpm will increase 150-200 rpm at WOT. I don't typically run at WOT but will I really notice much difference and is this a concern I should have? No, I don't have a tachometer.

Ed, I don't see any issue, if, as you say you don't typically now run WOT. Yes, the 11 pitch will move the boat forward less than the 12 pitch, for any given motor RPM. The loss in forward speed of the boat, at the RPM you have run in the past, can be recovered by simply opening up the throttle (give her a bit more gas, brother) , provided you do not exceed the maximum for the motor.
However,,,,,,,,,,,, the 10.5 diameter is grabbing more water than the 10.25, therefore there is more available thrust. You will most likely immediately notice the increased thrust, when power loading and getting on plane while on the water.

Thank Dave. Seriously thinking of buying a another at the proper size. Then decide which will be the spare. I didn't hit the stump hard but see a scuff on the original prop at the housing. Think I'll setup a dial indicator and check run out of the prop shaft too. I'm told tolerance of .004 is within spec. It most likely is just from the rubber hub doing it's job.
