Damn What a Cold Snap

Yeap… if we had all of the snow … almost on track for an homage to the armistice day storm .
I’m trying to bow hunt it but not having a lot of luck at the moment .

Had a blow out on the interstate.. hit some debris on 3 month old tires .., while attempting to change the tire discovered the rim was seized to the hub and in attempts to break it free the seal in the jack failed . Had to wait for triple A

Then missed a nice 10 pt

We’ll see what this afternoon brings me

I think I'd cut my losses and go sit by the fire for the rest of the day!

35 in Tampa this morning, below freezing just inland & north of us.
🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶
Saw it was 19 just north of Birmingham, AL.
Snowing where i grew up in PA.
How cold were y'all and who's hunting the backside of the front???

That was warmer than I was this morning at the launch. House was 23F and at the launch the truck said 44F (probably a bad reading, but it was not freezing there (mid 30s at the coldest). Anyway, I had a really long run planned and the wind was blasting out of the absolute wrong direction. I turned around and came home. There must have been a front I crossed and the winds were whipped up at the border of warm and cold air.

Carl,
I hunted the front of the front, the front and the backside of the front here in southern Michigan. Twenty two degrees this morning at the ramp with a west wind. Divers moved in ahead of the weather. several good days of gunning open water.

31 this morning here in NW Pa., up by Erie. Not nearly as much snow as they predicted but enough to drive the geese into the cut corn. Field hunting for honkers tomorrow morning, picked up a new farm the other day, which has corn as far as you can see, and there is a pond in the middle. 300 geese there this morning. I'm hoping there will be only 297 tomorrow after I get done hunting. I'm glad we didn't get buried like they thought we would. That will come soon enough.

You southerners are killing me. Mid 30's here in Maine. We haven't had a hard freeze yet. I was still getting the last tomatoes out of the garden less than 2 weeks ago. Planted garlic Sunday--just a little bit late, but it will do fine. I assume that front will eventually get here, but I don't see any real cold in the forecast yet.

Jeff, this is a really strange weather pattern!
I am going to try to get my winter garden in this weekend, sugar snap peas, some japanese squash, maybe some turnips/beets.

Ahhh....Lower 48 Southerners. We never got above zero today. Spent Veterans Day carving harlequin decoys. Chances we'll get above zero in the single digits this weekend. Gonna be another long winter.

Picked up a well used 1436 Lowe jon over the weekend and spend all monday and yesterday un bubbaing it from previous owner. Had a stiff N.W. wind blowing all day yesterday and about 40 air temp. Reminded me of my working outside all day to earn a buck younger days! Installed aluminum floor yesterday. Trying to get hull to the point I can shoot a couple coats of paint on it next week in a bit warmer forecast temps. Of course our duck season comes in sat. so i,ll be working around that. Hopefully I,ll get the boat to the point I can splash it in a couple weeks.

New technical term for the discerning duck hunter.....un bubbaing. :D (y)

it was 23 with a stiff North wind Saturday morning here in N. Bama I had to punt on my daily 6am walk and couldn't do anything on the new boat. I would move it into the shop but at 18' it would be tight.

Got this photo from a friend of the northern lights showing on Lake Guntersville last night. Doesn't happen often.
