Season opened October 18th? Didn’t shoot want birds till today. Wasn’t ideal conditions but I was stir crazy from work/home life so I threw the gun and waders in the truck and headed to the boat. The west winds have dropped the water a ton but was about to churn my way out of the canal where I keep my boat. Setup on a dike and then the stupidity started. For whatever reason instead of running my lines with the current I started setting up perpendicular. Had a bad range and thought my first two lines were gonna be a nightmare to pull but ended up being ok. Got my limit of scaup and might have been able to work the 6 different mallards that gave me a look but I was so frustrated with the lines I didn’t wanna have to pick up a few singles too.
