Painting a plastic Old Town canoe

I have a green Old Town pack canoe that I dropped the seat & I use it with a kayak paddle. It is light enough to pull into a marsh and use like a gunning coffin - and obviously I can paddle it to cross deaper spots. The outer surface/green is already faded but I want to darken up the light colored interior. Anyone try rattlecan paint made for plastic lawn furniture? Any other effective paint to use?

The interior surface is already rough, and obviously I should do the normal "wash with hot water/soap, wipe down with thinner, scuff with a pad" procedure.

I think your on the right track with paint made for plastic. I tried just regular paint it just pealed. There are different kinds of plastics and maybe it won't work on them all but it is worth a shot. Over that paint then you should be able to use other paint to suit if you can't get the right color.

Go to an automotive paint shop, not a normal chain. They will have a special primer that is used on the plastic car bumpers. This will allow you to use any kind of spray paint. I forget what it is called but they will know. Secondly after washing the boat with soap and water let it dry and then wipe it all down fith denatured alchol. This will remove any soap residue and other particulates that the soap did not get.
