I have a 1982 Rem. 1100 with the same type of part. After a couple of years putting up with it I finally fixed it by using a small metal punch and hammer as you were thinking. That was about 10 years ago and it has not fell out since. Hope this helps.

Yeah Rick, the rail skiff worked great, even with my BIG self in it!! I was talking to another buddy about it and he wants to see the boat. He and his partner are both looking for that kind of boat. Get ready you might have to build a few more of them! Again, thanks for a great hunt on Saturday.
