    Motor problem....

Tod, You know I am a sucker for the technology in the ETEC, but the market is proving that the Honda and the Yamaha are the cats a$$. Unless it is a big Merc the market wants one of those two. Those carbs are well within your range but you might want a helper for the final adjust on...

    Motor problem....

Dave, I have one of those and they dont always work on the New CDI type systems. Looks like no spark but the unit is fine. The test equipment for the electrical side of the outboards is a few bucks and Specialized or I would own it. Not needed for diesel power. Bob

    Post from Vietnam

This is a link to a picture of the yard down the street from my house and one of the ships they launched. This was right before the end of serious shipbuilding on the site in 1915. They did repair work after that. But the yard built the biggest ships of the day in that era. The Steam...

    Post from Vietnam

Mike, that is a ship caulker. He is driving in the twisted cotton or other fiber yarn into the seam. The planker will purposely plane an open bevel in the outside edge of the plank so the yarn can be driven in to create a water tight seam. The joint is then painted over with lead paint to...

    Motor problem....

Tod, the cdi requires a special tester and I dont own one. If you get to the point you feel it is not electric there are some very good video tutorials on carb take down. Search yamaha carb rebuild and you will get a bunch. Most are motor cycle or quad but a minkuni is a minkuni. I do...

    Youth Shotgun Help

Don, I think you got sound advice so far. One thing I have found teaching new shooters is that recoil is a huge factor in early success. Some kids just want to shoot so bad they will shoot thru amazing punishment, but others not so much. If you can, find a reloader or buy factory low...

    Post from Vietnam

Mike, great shots of another world. I can see it now. "Hey, We have all these chickens cooped up in cages eating marigold petals, what could we sell the chicken s%&t for?" "Bingo! Starbucks new coffee flavor Marigold Late!" Funny to see all the Bean Coffee in the street. We have...

    Question about Kara boats

Dani, I have a robber picture of the frame that Mark built. I would build it as per the plan design. But the short Robber version using 1\4 inch AC underlayment plywood and lumberyard wood you find locally. Dont go nuts adding a lot of epoxy fillets and other add ons. Here is why...

    Any PEI hunters?

Jon, my thinking is Shermie may have some info for you. I know he is a bit restricted for online time but you might try a PM. My father in law loves PEI and bugs us all the time to get up there. I dont have a job offer so...... not moving this week, but would be a great try for a few...

    January "What's on your Workbench?"

Chris the first black duck that lands in those is really going to give you a woody. Pete is a great resource and if you get the chance meet up with Rich S and Jeff F as well. You are in a decoy carver rich area for sure. Bob

How I Spent Christmas Break (NDR)

Who here uses Grayson Chesser's patterns?

Lee I found this shot I was looking for in another file. It shows the keel and the head a bit better. I sure wish I knew where this decoy ended up. It was sold at an auction and I never got to find out who bought it. I sure hope it is not ridding on some display shelf all year.

    Black Cork Decoy Pics?

Lee, these were posted by Chuck Lowe back in 2001. Liked them then and still do. These were my best friends grandfathers! He had 6 cans and 6 goldeneyes. They do have bottom boards however. One was stamped Middletown CT. No idea who made them, but they sure worked. I...

I thank all of you for your prayers and support

Gary, you are in the thoughts and prayers of our family during this hard time. I can only begin to guess the feelings you have experienced in the last week. Suzanne will always be more important than the ducks and dogs and decoys, but those things may just be the distraction that allow you...

    Blake's NJ hunting trip

Jode, I want to pile on here. Lee was a heck of a supporter of this site. His memory lives on thru efforts like this. Having only met you twice for about 5 min all I can go on is actions and what a few others have said. Class is the thing that rings true. Great Job showing Blake...

Who here uses Grayson Chesser's patterns?

Lee, I like Grayson's book a lot. It was the first one I got. Waited a long time to carve my first. This can used his head pattern. I fooled with the body a bit. The Keel was a copy of a Hagerbaumer I saw in a drawing.
