    Wafer board for silhouettes

I found 2 boxes of signs that were never used at a printers shop several years ago. I was able to get a couple of mallard-sized silhouettes from each sign. I spray painted them. I only did this with 1 box. The other box was donated to a friend when I moved 2 years ago. They seem to work...

    1966 Crestliner North Star project

Dave, Thanks for providing the off-season entertainment! Although that boat might be kind of difficult to hide back here in MO! RE: flotation ideas. I can't remember if it was here or some other site where someone suggested using plastic soda bottles as flotation. I thought that was a...

    Introducing Willow

With Bailey passing away last August, our house seemed pretty quiet last fall. Although she hadn't been hunting the past 3 years, Bailey always followed me to the door and whined when I snuck out in the morning to go hunting, and was there to go crazy when we got home. Our other dog, Kayla, is...

Tales of the Old Crony---The Big Chill

hehe, Have had a few of those as well...I distinctly remember having to thaw my waders in the truck in order to get out of them on one of those "of course I'm going hunting" days! The adventure is more than half the fun.

    Hello all

Retriever Training Forum has a fantastic classifieds page just for labs: here This is mostly for Field Trial/Hunt Test folks who are looking for top notch pedigrees. I have only looked in the central plains (MO, KS, IA), and haven't been specific on color, but there are some great pedigreed...

How many hunters is too many?

I'm there for "fooling" the ducks, so I'm OK being one of the middle shooters. When we hunt 3 or 4, I'm typically one of the last to shoot my birds (OK, that might have something to do with my shooting skills :) One of my best hunting buddies is the same way, so there have been times when...

    Topbreak's Bailiwick (Bailey)

It's been a couple of weeks now, so the sting isn't quite as intense, but I still hear her bark when I pull into the driveway and expect to stumble over her in the early morning darkness. She was way more talented as a retriever than I was as a trainer, but somehow we managed to make that work...

NDR - Off electrical grid phone chargers question.

Pete, you may already know how to close apps on your phone completely, but I've run into 2 folkd in theast couple weeks that were complaining of battery discharge and that was the culprit. Once I showed them how to close all the apps they didn't currently need battery drainage seemed to drop...

    ? for guys with BBSBs

John, Check the diagram below to make sure I understand your question. The red triangle shows the 'wedge' that you're asking about. What it comes down to is the top thickness of that wedge, and it is based on the height of the wedge. It's a trigonometry problem where height x...

Some of you guys have been in this place already.

Mike, Many have already said it, but you and your family deserve it. Congratulations on a wonderful family and a couple of young adults you should be incredibly proud of. We've all watched them grow up through your stories on this site. It's amazing to think back trough the stories you've...

What Apps improve an outdoorsman's life?

I spend a lot of time in the off season chasing severe weather (when I can). For the Android, the pykl3radar app does a great job of providing radar data and will superimpose your location to help you navigate around problems (or be aware that they are coming and how bad they might be).

    Maryville, MO

Jim, We don't have a huge selection, but they are pretty decent. In Maryville, Carson's is excellent. It can get crowded with students on the weekends. Pagliai's Pizza is really good as well. They do a pretty good lunch buffet. A&G is a bit more upscale but has a great menu. If you are...

    Dog interventions.

I was out scouting for ducks several years back, back in some public land where the river had flooded a huge span of timber. I'd probably driven a mile along this road with water on both sides and I noticed movement out of the corner of my eye. I stopped and backed up. Nothing...odd. I...

    I am going Possibly d.r.

Enjoy the adventure Todd, we look forward to hearing about it (especially those of us living in the icebox at the moment!). I let the dogs out this morning and commented that it seemed quite warm...looked at the thermometer and it was 15 F, which IS warm compared to the last week :).

    Hearing Protection

The one thing that I dislike about wearing plugs is trying to call. I can't tell if I'm hitting the tones well as...well, everything is muffled :) . Chuck, do your ear plugs allow you to hear your calling very well?
