Six of us are heading to hunt snow geese in early March. Unless the migration changes we'll be staying in Maryville, Missouri. Just wondering if anyone knows the area and might be able to suggest some good spots to eat. Mom and pop type-not the chains. Thanks in advance.

Jim,
We don't have a huge selection, but they are pretty decent. In Maryville, Carson's is excellent. It can get crowded with students on the weekends. Pagliai's Pizza is really good as well. They do a pretty good lunch buffet. A&G is a bit more upscale but has a great menu. If you are looking for something Mexican, La Bonita is the best choice. Everything is on main street and I can't really say that any of the places are bad. Although I've never been called a picky eater :)

I've heard good things about the White Rose Restaurant and Quackers in Mound City (probably closer to where you'll actually be hunting).

Good luck and enjoy the trip!!!

Thanks Scott. We'll hear from the guide a week before our trip to see if we have to move or stay in Maryville. Thanks for the tips on food and the well wishes for our hunt. We're looking forward to seeing a new area.

White Rose in Mound City makes a good breakfast. We like to stop in after a duck hunt to fill up there when in the area.

Thank you Phil. The guide did mention Mound City as a possibility. Hopefully the weather and geese will cooperate.
