    Aluminum Sneakbox

Eric-you are correct about the true sneakbox hull, and the boat I was referring to was more like what Randy noted just above, and definitely not a BBSB, but similar in look(on top) and use. I hope Chris Finch is doing well, I miss hearing about his mushroom adventures and his hunting and...

    Aluminum Sneakbox

Hi Eric-I think I remember somebody on here selling one years ago, and they may have been from Connecticut. I'm hoping somebody here will turn up that knows more about it and maybe the builders name. The welding was something else, and I think it was something the builder wanted to do, because...

    Aluminum Sneakbox

There was a guy around Manahawkin NJ about 15 years ago building a boat like that. I know he sold a few. It was welded and fairly heavy gauge aluminum.

    soft rub rail

H Bennet-thank you, I saw this product elsewhere (I think it was on Amazon), it just isn't wide enough for what I need. Thanks for the input though, all is welcome.

    soft rub rail

Don't be sorry Geoff, that is a nice product, and I appreciate your idea. It's just a little pricey for a 30Y/O duck boat.

    soft rub rail

OK, thanks for the feedback. So far I checked on Taco's website to see if they had edging that was any wider, and I have a roll of the widest and it is too narrow. Steve, I have to see if I can find a sample of that product. I had seen it somewhere else before but you had to buy a 250' roll and...

    Because they are there!

    soft rub rail

Hi Roy and thanks for your ideas. I do have some of the Taco edging material but it will not cover the rivets. I was originally going to take the top off of the boat, but it was sealed so tightly that I realized I needed to leave it as is or I would create another problem. If I can find a 3/4"...

    soft rub rail

I am doing some work on my AA Blackjack and also need to replace the rub rail, but I want a softer rubber or similar product. What I need to cover is 3/4 wide X 1/4 deep. I am thinking of using automotive heater hose. There was originally some U channel molding on there that was soft vinyl or...

    Buckingham Movies

I hope you get a reply on this Eric. A few years ago one of the Long Islanders put up a link to some 60's era shooting movies from the south shore(I think). These are fun to watch and also show how much physical effort and discomfort you had to go through to go duck hunting if you weren't on a...

Do members here consider finding books of their interests Hunting?

Brad, I read just as you do and share many of those topics in addition to outdoors and sporting writing. I will also read a classic from time to time, and really like a good spy or intrigue yarn. Two or three books going. Reading is a way of life for me.

    Live Decoys Making A Comeback?

Yes, I do remember the discussion about the correct number of black duck decoys to use in a correct black duck stool. There was quite a bit of highly intellectual conversation on that topic, of which I was certainly a participant. But the true brilliance was whomever it was that let out the true...

    Historical sneakboxs

I'm glad to hear this and see your photos. I marveled at how this was put together and how different it was. Very cool.
