Partially DR --- Bald Eagles have recovered

I live in a suburban neighborhood adjacent to the Yellowstone River in Billings and it is not unusual these days to see bald eagles and ospreys cruising over a landscape of mowed lawns and SUVs.

NDR: Good thoughts, prayers, stump dances, etc.., requested.

Wishing safe travels for your girls. What a great experience for them but I know you are anxious to have them home. My only advice would be to get that house cleaned up. I do my best (really!) to keep the place clean when my wife is gone but it is never clean enough for her!

Late winter fishing report--actual fish involved

Great pics and story. Thanks for posting. When I lived in SD I remember one trip on some kind of rotten ice on a backwater of the Missouri in early March when it was sunny and 45F. We pulled big bluegills up through the holes one after the other.

    Rimfire scope recommendations....definitely NDR

I have always shot my Ruger 10-22 with iron sights but the last couple of years I have to admit that my eyes struggle with the iron sights more than they used to! I am going to buy a scope in the $75-$150 range and wondering whether I need a variable scope (2x7 or 3x9) or would a fixed 4x best...

    Becalmed

Turned in to a great hunting day for you! Thanks again for keeping us posted. I think those drake buffies are pretty little guys. I have a drake buffy decoy that our own Yukon Mike made for me. I stick him on the outside of my GE decoys and the little Judas draws in the buffleheads.

Carl, what do you do with those mergs? I once shot a hooded merg on a beaver pond when I lived in Georgia that swooped in with a bunch of wood ducks. Interestingly, it was full of acorns so I was hopeful it might be edible. I roasted it with three woodies in the pan. I left the house for a bit...
