    Who hunts deer?

This will be my first year hunting deer for real - I tried it once when I was 12, and it sucked (no deer) so I hung that up, and later got infected with duck hunting. My family never hunted, so I was never pushed back into it. Recently came into opportunity to hunt private land with a friend...

    Outboard recomendations: E-Tec DOA

A good choice, I think. I love the smell of a two stroke in the morning! Even though the e-tecs don't quite smell enough for me :D

    Outboard recomendations: E-Tec DOA

Shame on the E-tec, they are a great motor. I would go Suzuki or Yamaha if I were repowering right now.... A Guide friend of ours runs a suzuki 140 - currently over 2000 hours. HOLY POOP. It's all in the luck of the draw though, to some degree. Anybody is capable of making a lemon, ,my...

    Painting a motor

Heat gun will take the stickers off sand, wipe with acetone or alcohol or whatever, i use a mini roller or brush with duck boat paint (more durable base coat, thicker paint), then rattle can my "pattern" on. I still like to put some kind of grassy cover over it. You can always shoot it...

    Boat ID help

Good to know - This one is in great shape. It came with a yellowish/tan/khaki color originally that is under the current paint scheme (which is flaking badly on the corners) Their appears to have been glass bulkheads that were removed to add under deck space - Would have held foam in both...

    Boat ID help

I don't think hellbender existed 20+ years ago. I bought this from a guy who bought it from his brother 20 years ago, and his brother had bought it from his uncle 5-10 years before that.

    Boat ID help

Interesting. It has no marks of any kind, all glass no wood anywhere. Except the retrofitted oar stanchions.

    Boat ID help

Haha, yes. It is a sweet little boat. It flies in the water with the oars, but I ordered a kayak paddle anyway. I like seeing where I'm headed. Lol

    Protecting canoe keels

Well gosh darn it, use a strip of trex or pvc trim then. plug the bolt holes with 5200. Sand the side to be adhered first. Just shooting an idea out there.

    Protecting canoe keels

Considered glueing on that hyfax plastic or whatever it is they use on the bottom of ice fishing sleds? I'd bed that in 5200. That stuff holds up absolutely incredibly on rough ice etc behind four wheelers and trucks.

    Diver rig~ hen/drake ratio?

I see more hens and immature drakes in flocks than I do nice drakes, so I mimic that with my repaints, etc. The darker colors show up better from a distance anyway. Does it REALLY matter? Probably not. But why not mimic what you see in real life? I've never shot into a flock of all drake...

    Etec

I loved mine... Was a smaller version. FIL has a 60 that runs great... 6 or 7 years old I think? He has put a zillion hours on it trolling downriggers, long runs, stop starts drift jigging. Mine always started less than a revolution, every time no matter what the temp.

Filling Dents and gouges in Herters foam decoys

I use "goop" or any similar silicon waterproof adhesive. Worked fine on foam filled dekes. Agreed on layering.

    blind fabric

Thank you for all the suggestions! The cordura is nice, and is way cheaper than I remember it being on ebay... I am thinking bungee loops hooking to "coaming" instead of snaps, those would be a pain in the butt to try and do all the time in the dark before hunting. Here's the big...

    Choosing the right sneak boat

I'd go with a devlin 12'. Mine goes through skinny Nasty water easily. It's a choice you have to make, more seaworthy, less effective shallow, less seaworthy better at floating in 2" water. There isn't a boat that will do both perfectly that is a nice small one man rig, iMo. My Bluebill...

    blind fabric

I am looking for suggestions on blind fabric, that I will then attach grass/whatever with zipties. I plan on rolling it up and using tie to hold it on the top "bar" of the blind while in transit and setting the decoys. my last blind the fabric was affixed to the uprights as well, and I...

"H-Bar", "T-Bar", or any other Effective Floating Solutions

even with the single pole design, put a screw in the wind ducks attachment point, if it gets dunked it will come right back up. You'd be in waves too big to hunt in for it to bring it that far down anyway. I'd run 4' below the surface and 6' above the surface if i were trying to be seen from...
