blind fabric

I am looking for suggestions on blind fabric, that I will then attach grass/whatever with zipties. I plan on rolling it up and using tie to hold it on the top "bar" of the blind while in transit and setting the decoys.

my last blind the fabric was affixed to the uprights as well, and I didn't like that at all because the stress from the wind caused it to begin to rip.

So far, my ideas are as follows - yours are more than welcome!

1- Burlap and bailing twine... AKA "The Scholberg Special"

2- canvas drop cloth and some kind of netting or mesh over the top of it to attach the grass to, appropriately painted or dyed a "marshy" color.

3- woodland camo military style netting with grass on it.

Are people still finding that Jstern is the cheapest place for raffia? We don't have salt hay in Minnesota to attach to our blinds. Mr greenjeans probably won't let me attach anything natural to it anyway...

Look on eBay. You can find some great deal on 500 denier fabric for wind and water proofing and some camo nets over that that you can add grass too finish hiding it.

Think i would use camo cordura nylon with stainless snaps afixed thru bottom edge and the male screw in portion afixed along combing. Attach brushing straps on cordura walls and use what ever material blends with area you hunt. If you can make use of rafia grass attached to brushing straps it can be rolled up within cordura when under way. J sterns is the way to go when purchaseing quanitys of rafia.

Not sure what you have decided but Rogers Sporting goods has good prices on 8'x20' and 7'8"x10' camo military style netting right now and free shipping (or at least that's what my cart said but I had some shells in it also)

Thank you for all the suggestions!

The cordura is nice, and is way cheaper than I remember it being on ebay...

I am thinking bungee loops hooking to "coaming" instead of snaps, those would be a pain in the butt to try and do all the time in the dark before hunting.

Here's the big question: Is it even legal to use natural veg as a grassing option? Can I use tullees or cattails stuffed into straps on cordura? would I be legally obligated to dump them every time to prevent aquatic hitchhikers?

I'd just as soon use plastic poultry net and camo net over that, because grass would be easy to zip on, no sewing etc to be done. If I were to do net, and cordura, and a "synthetic" vegetation I'm looking at several hundred dollars just to make my boat look like a muskrat hut.

But with proper storage you,ll not have to fool w/cutting brush-catails again. For years I use to cut bayberry to use in brushing loops of a previous boat blind as fast grass just didn,t blend in in the areas I hunt. Once I discovered dyed rafia and used it on boat blind I,d never go back to cutting natural brush-grass.

Burlap and baling twine are neither invasive species :<)) Good call though, we do have to be careful not to transport a single zebra muscle or leaf of milfoil. I don't know how the COs are going to enforce the "drain and steam clean" laws on duck boats, any insight out there??? Oh by the way Paul check out Harris Warehouse for Cordura, that's where I found mine
