    New - Boat build advice

Forgot to mention, re:flotation. Sam must have been paying attention to all the concerns about pour-in flotation. He no longer recommends that. Plans call for using cheap, orange pfds- a specified number in each compartment.

Yep, perfect. That's what I expected, but wanted to be sure I was visualizing it correctly. Many thanks.

@tod osier - looking at these pictures further, it appears you added the keelson afterwards - but I'd assume that would block the limber holes you have in your bulkheads (as pictured). Did you have to enlarge those, or cut additional ones offset to the keelson? Or maybe cut the bottom corner...

    New - Boat build advice

These are great, @tod osier , and answered several questions in my mind. Thank you! I plan to extend the rear deck a bit - it looks like you added a couple inches, and I like how you did it. I'd also been thinking of a through-hull transducer, so your bonus pic is very useful. How does the...

    New - Boat build advice

It's interesting. It is drawn in and noted on the construction view drawing, but not listed in the materials list nor on any other drawing. To your point, I do wonder if it is included because the design otherwise would have no sole support between the 3rd and 6th bulkheads. Converting 4 & 5...

    New - Boat build advice

I may be mis-using terminology. The plans call for a 1.5" wide keelson between the 3rd and 6th bulkhead - right down the centerline (lowest point side-to-side). @Eric Patterson - somewhere here I'd seen a picture of a boat with what amounted to 2 longitudinal below the sole, each a couple...

    New - Boat build advice

The more I look at it and review Devlin's book, the more upside down makes sense to me. There one hangup for me is the keelson - that looks to me that it needs to be curved and fitted (and while pictured isn't dimensioned in the plans). Simple to do if using knees, but I want to follow Tod's...

    Snow on the Gulf Coast

Crazy indeed. We got it pretty good in coastal NC, as well.

    New - Boat build advice

Thanks Steve! I'll be doing most of the work in a shop a friend and I have for working on our cars - part of a small warehouse. Very high "ceilings"... though I am considering designing something by which I could lift the boat off a trailer for storage in the air when off-season/not in use to...

    Apologies

Sorry you're going through this, John. This, too, shall pass. Best to you.

I'm guessing some felt the same about the Titanic!

    New - Boat build advice

Reviewing the pdf version, just the drawings... but including a drawing for a setup using the bulkheads on a jig for use in building upside down. Also noted the specs call for 1/2" for hull, chines and deck - did you mention you thought yours were 3/8"? I've sent a note to see if the specs...

    NDR - Shingles

Also can't help, but after several rough stories from friends did get my 2 rounds of shingles vaccines the last few months. The vaccine can be rough, but nothing compared to shingles itself. If you haven't had shingles or the vaccine - get it! Tod - check with your MD, but I think if you've...

Thanks, and I was following you. I noted in Devlins book that smaller boats could be tabbed on the outside instead. Still thinking about all this.
