    Importing a shotgun from Canada....

Tough question. I have an opportunity to purchase a nice shotgun from a friend in Canada. I have contacted some local friends who have FFL. They both have said I need to find an importer and send the gun there, and then it can be sent to them. I have looked at the ATF website and I realize I...

    KY coyotes and cats...

Hi Steve, Congrats on the great hunt! What part of KY were you hunting? We are inundated with coyotes on the western end of the state. If you come back to KY, you are more than welcome to stay with us. I have access to quite a bit of ag land and farmers more than happy to get rid of...

    Smoked Venison ?

Are you wanting to know cooking temperature or temp to pull the meat? I have a Big Green Egg and if I am doing venison tenderloin, I would get the Egg temp to ~275 - 290. Put whatever hardwood lump you like for smoke (I have been experimenting with pecan and really like it) pull venison at 140 F...

    Agree?

Worth, Great post! I used to eat Dinty Moore almost weekly as a kid. I don't even remember the last time I've had it. I need to get a can and re-live childhood memories. My Mom would make grilled cheese sandwich with it. Best, Steve

Interesting. Thank you for sharing. I am going to contact one of our KY DU reps. The action of DU frankly disgusts me. Steve

    Tried new duck recipe

Sounds good! When I was in Manitoba last month, my guide showed me a new to me trick for stuffed breasts. Butterfly a breast and lay down creamed horseradish and a piece of pepper jack cheese. Wrap in bacon and cook over the grill. The combo of the horseradish and duck is AMAZING!

    Bankes/TDB seating question

Probably a matter of preference. I like the 5 gallon bucket seats. For me, easier to stand up and shoot. If I get into a folding chair, I can't move fast enough, because I sit so deep. Try both and see what works for you. Best, Steve

    Balsa decoys...

Pat! Holy Christmas!! Several years ago I was at Westlake and bought a balsa can. It was labeled "a carver from MI". The person selling it didn't know anything else about it. Well, from your picture, I have a Ralph Reghi can!!! Thank you for posting this! BTW, I carved a couple balsa Bluebills...

    Home Brewing NDR

Chris, It has been awhile since I made home brew, but it is very rewarding. Biggest thing is to take extra time to make sure your bottles are very clean. Also, with brewing, determine the type of yeast you will use. Lagers are brewed with a yeast that likes colder temperatures and for a...

Question for those who like to smoke stuff

Hi Dani, Kewl thread. I love to cook as well. For my first smoker, I picked up a box smoker that ran off of propane. Simple box, with a burner, pan for chips, water plate, and racks. I can't remember which brand, but it was a great "starter" and I made some great food and learned quite...
