    First sneak boat

I use a high beam head lamp but a couple of guys I know use the forward location on the deck but have found that they needed to raise the light as Roy mentioned to reduce the glare off the water while running and gives more adjustment for pointing the light. I don't know if you're going to brush...

Bye Bye Filson, Hello Tom Beckbe (RANT!)

No way I still have coffee at the end of the day! I can't afford Yeti.... 😂 My Stanley is still the king of the hill!

Arkansas Opener Video from Public Land

Yeah, I wondered what they cost. Knowing that puts it way out of line. It looks like a Borg take over. Resistance is futile! I knew my boat buying days were over when I retired. My old Lund still floats and my new Suzuki outboard will be paid off in 6 mos. I'll be happy with what I have.

    1960 Van Sant Pond Box

Thanks Richard. I have the plans in the Successful Waterfowling book. As is it's too big to get into my 16' boat. I thought about reducing the size but I'm thinking a stitch and glue my be easier to build. Found this one online and have been laying something out in cardboard but I'm just...

    1960 Van Sant Pond Box

Would love to find some plans for this. I have a perfect spot for a craft like this I can't get my big boat into. I used a large Otter sled once but it's a lot of work. This little box and my long kayak paddle or a small 2hp motor might just be the ticket.

I've enjoyed reading through this post. 1. I'd only learned of a riffle hitch knot when I took the family the first time to Colorado for a little fly fishing. 2. I really enjoyed Rick's writing on Arkansas hunting. Of course I left Arkansas in 1996 to move back to Illinois so I didn't get to see...

Lost my buddy for the waterfowl & upland bird seasons

Hoping for a quick recovery. Our girl Lucy is going is having a procedure to remove a tumor on her hip in a few weeks. She's 13 years old but not ready to lose her. Although she didn't end up a hunter, she's been the best family dog.

    Devlin Honker

Phil Nowack built a Honker in 2006 I believe. He posted the build here. I haven't seen him post for awhile but I'm sure he's still around.

    Winter is here. Who’s hunting?

13° on my way out the door. The black and white ducks are finally showing up but no way to get to them....lol. Maybe I should just grab a goose!

    33° in Tampa!

Arctic blast coming through tonight. Weatherman saying 8° tonight with winds speeds of 20+ and gusts to 40mph. Wind chills will be in the minus digits in the morning. To early for that. Those are January/February temps!

    Socks

I have a couple of pairs of Alpaca socks from Farm and Fleet as well as a pair of wicking socks. I find they do a good job walking and on a deer stand but standing on ice for any length of time I'd use a wool pad in the boot. My boots are 800 gram in the toes and 400 gram in the upper boot. I...
