DUCKBOAT SEATS - How low can we go?

I use a momarsh invisilounge on top of a cut down milk crate. In my boat 7" seems to do the trick in the stern and 4.5" seems to work best in the bow. For my height it keeps my flapper boards at eye level.

Your opinion on motors without power trim/tilt...

In a similar sentiment to power/trim tilt I used to scoff at those who had electric start motors on their duck boats. More weight with a battery? Not for me... Of course now that I have one I should have done it years ago!

How was everyone dealing with this virus scare?

NJ over here, I work in emergency power so we're still humming along until someone tells us otherwise. I am fortunate to work in our office, not in field work so I am able to socially distance myself decently well. Still a bit unnerving with things changing by the day. My girlfriend is a...

Thinking about building a 12ft cackler

No good shots grassed up, but my 14 with and without canvas. This design was modified when built to eliminate the motor well.

Thinking about building a 12ft cackler

I have owned a 14ft cackler and I run a 12ft roy boat now. There's a CONSIDERABLE weight difference between the two. The cackler is a better choice if you're going to run big water, but if you are going to be dealing with the mud and pushing the boat around at all then I could see why you...

    Poor Judgement/Essential Items

These kinds of things are great learning opportunities for sure, especially for you learning a new area and how it may be effected by the wind, tide, etc. I had a slightly less harrowing situation earlier this season where my shift linkage to my lower unit came undone while setting decoys and I...

    Way Back Wednesday

We see a lot more gadwall than in the past. Was always black ducks, broadbill and brant when I was starting out. Then mallards became more prevalent. Now I live farther south in the state and can hunt more wilderness areas that open up new species to see. The 2019 picture was a highlight...

Slowest Duck Season Ever, But Beautiful Scenery

Always welcome up here Eric. The largest change I've seen in recent years in regards to hunter recruitment is the popularity of sea duck hunting. That too is also changing with reduced seasons and seems to be where most of the pressure is going these days. Lots of younger folks involved...

Seeking Recommendations on new duck boat for use in NJ

A duck boss 13 would be a very good option if you can find one. The potential third hunter limited my original recommendations. I usually tend to steer people toward DB13s or the new duck invaders because unless you know somebody who knows somebody finding a reasonably priced high box is a...

Slowest Duck Season Ever, But Beautiful Scenery

Love seeing the scenery from other parts of the waterfowling world. Had a fun little swamp/timber shoot last week here in NJ but nothing like flooded tupelo... I've been having one of my better seasons to date in terms of numbers, but it has turned into a grind as of late. Didn't hate going...

    Top Waterfowling Moment

Thanks everyone! I've had a lot of special moments with my dad in the marsh, but this one definitely is right up there with the top ones. That picture's definitely being framed and we also kept both birds for a potential dual mount.

    Lucky sonsabitches!

Very cool pictures and experience with your son! I believe the colored bands are part of a new study they are doing. Our brant season is closed until tomorrow so they've been getting a break lately. NJ fish and game link with some info: https://njfishandwildlife.com/news/2019/brantstudy19.htm
