bufflehead numbers here in the Rhode Island saltwater spots I frequent have been quite low. Too bad, because I have no qualms about eating them. Avoiding overcooking them has been a challenge, so perhaps this thread will be inspiration to improving my culinary skills. Thanks.

Phil, Wouldn't be surprised if that Golden Eye flew away. The one time I've shot a Golden Eye thus far it fell onto the water and was floating as if dead. By the time I could get the kayak and start paddling toward that duck it got up and flew off.

I don't remotely resemble an outboard motor expert, but with both my motors I've noticed that the longer they go without running, the worse they are to start. Not sure why, but it happens enough to convince me it's not good for motors to do nothing.

Thanks, Steve. That's about what I expected (actually a little less) given how robust those motor mounts look. Yesterday I tried a different, heavier, more-powerful outboard on my boat, and am wondering whether the motor mount should be beefed up.
