I hunt over mostly plastic decoys too. The exception are my cork LL Bean black duck decoys that Steve Sanford are give " the spa treatment ".
But I admire all the craftsman and artist here.
This year is my 1st year hunting with a Beretta A400 Xtreme Plus. Absolutely fantastic gun. I also bought a Wicked Wings edition of the Browning Cynergy. I only used it once in the field, but shot many rounds of skeet with it. I would highly recommend either gun. My previous gun was a DU...
It is fascinating for me to follow the progress of your repairs and species reassignment of the decoys. This is way above my pay grade. I had one artistic bone in my body, and I broke it when I was 30. [laugh]
Jode,
What a champ, 2 at once! Wow!
My sincere condolences on your loss. Even though my dogs haven't been hunting dogs, I know how awful it is Lose your best buddy.
Thanks Scott, yup we are getting some snow. Tough to judge with the wind blowing it around.
I definitely want a hydraulic jack plate. That part number on Amazon is for a hydraulic jack but the picture sure doesn't look like it's hydraulic
Thanks for the information
After today's adventure in the marsh, I'm 90% leaning towards getting the hydraulic jack plate. The mud was coming up fast, and I ended up poling and walking my boat around to retrieve a couple geese. It would have been much easier to motor around instead.

I just got the Garrett Pro pointer this season, and it seems to do the job. I wand both sides, and all over a few times. I have found a few pellets with it so far
Exactly I misunderstod your reply. I thought you were not aware how slick they are. I'd hate to see a duck boat crash down on a ramp.
I do the same as you. Thanks Mike!
I used to undo the chain and winch strap, then back down to the water.
If I do that now, the boat will come off the trailer and land on the ramp before I have a chance to back the truck up.
They are that slick!
Yes Yes Yes
Very important. Your boat will shoot off your trailer and land on the ramp.
Like Tony said. Leave the bow strap on until your boat is in the water, or you are ready for the boat to slide off the trailer to the water.
On my Estuary there was a piece of 1?1 wood at the top of my transom similar to this. I never thought about it until I took off the motor when I got my new boat.
As I typed my last reply, I had to stop to take Alieve for my elbow that's hurting.
Ha ha.
Now I'm just thinking of mounting my motor up a few inches and calling it good.

So I was talking with Nick Zito yesterday, and he is trying to make me spend more money!
We were talking about navigating in shallow water, and it would be nice to motor in, instead of poling or walking the boat in.
Does anyone have any ideas about using an adjustable jack plate. I saw some...
