Belle's first Florida quail season was 2019/2020

Hahaha I laughed out loud with that Anthony, quite a difference in swimming technique between those two.

    Wyoming

Thanks Carl and Dani, Great points to bring up and really appreciate the in depth thoughts and responses from everyone. I hadn't thought of vacationing there during the worst times but it makes perfect sense. We were discussing going out there this fall and check a few things out. The winter...

    Wyoming

Thanks Brandon, There is a lot to think about. I guess one thing I forgot to mention for thinking of moving is dealing with work. Had a plan and sights set on transitioning to civil service but it didn't work out so it added to me thinking of trying something else in a new location, seems to...

    Wyoming

Thanks everyone for advice and comments. I had read that the winds can get pretty fierce there and across all those mid states, seemed like Wyoming wasn't quite as bad as say Montana or the Dakotas but still something to consider. Used to 80mph winds from hurricanes but 80-90 degree winds are...

    Wyoming

I was thinking of more on the southern end and had looked around Laramie and even nearing to Cheyenne and up to Wheatland to Casper. Looked around La Barge to the west but would rather be near the eastern states than the western states. As far reasoning for thinking of moving comes from a...

    Wyoming

I've been throwing ideas around about moving out west and Wyoming has been the main state of appeal to me. I know several people here have traveled through the west on adventures and wondering if any wondered through Wyoming or if any one lives there. Want to get y'all's opinion of the areas...

Only hunted in the snow once and was great. Would love to do it again but snow is rare now in Northeast NC. Thanks for sharing those photos and hope you get another hunt in the snow.

    Gruesome Discovery

A difficult situation to be in, and I'm sure it's one you did not expect to find yourself in to. It's been some years since my wife's cousin died (12/23/2013) while out in his canoe one evening prepping for a Christmas Eve hunt the next day. It was two weeks before he was found. It's always a...

    Redhead or Ringneck?

Look at the length of that bill, definitely a canvasback x redhead. Just kidding I have not seen any in person so I would not know myself. I unfortunately don't get to encounter these birds where I hunt, so an educational post to help the rest of us too.

Decoy Carving - Bandsaw a necessity?

There is no cut and dry answer. But no you do not need one, but would definitely help. To dive deeper into the answer though it all depends on what medium you plan to use for carving and if you want to go for a particular style. I started with foam which requires a hand saw and...

    A tornado of mallards

Cody, Thanks for sharing the video with us. I have never seen that many ducks flying over head like that, snow geese I see quite a bit in the fields. Great stuff and makes for hard shooting, not because it's a difficult shot but because it ruins the show.

What's on your WORK BENCH - DECEMBER 2020

Thank you Vince, they turned out pretty good. It's pretty fun making them and wish I had more time right now to make more. My house is having a bunch of work done to it and my shop is in no order to work in it and plus we are staying at my mother in laws (we all get along so it's not too bad)...

2020 third annual mini decoy swap

Here is my canvas swan entry. Since there are 5 birds right now I will have this one entry unless someone comes in with a single, then I'll add my second bird into the swap. Everyone has until tonight

    What's on your WORK BENCH ? - NOVEMBER 2020

Steve, The tacks are left over from college, we did some miniature canvas wing covering for a project. I wish I knew where they got them from because they are perfect for this and would be useful for other projects.

    What's on your WORK BENCH ? - NOVEMBER 2020

Steve, It measures slightly less than or right at 4", haven't measured the whole thing. And as far as the covering it is pretty open and is just cotton cloth, for this size I like to use it because it's more pliable and shows the weave pattern once painted which gives a good texture for the...
