    Honda vs Yamaha

We've run them all commercially, All we run now are Hondas. Yes they are expensive, but I wouldn't run anything else anymore.

NDR - A Firewood Box for my Tractor - Part 1 of 2

Very nice, but, you could have used a already made apple box that you pick up with the forks of the lifter, then you can put it anywhere you want and drive away, and still have the forks usable for moving the rest of your heavy stuff, as long as it's on pallets. [cool]

    Outboard Shaft Length Question

If it's a displacement hull, and if your going to go at displacement speed, probably 5 mph, then you should be good with the short shaft. BUT, if you try to make that boat go, like a planing hull, then you'll need the long shaft to keep the water intake below water as the cavitation plate will...

    Underwater epoxy?

Jeff, I'm full of ....ideas, :) , but without actually seeing your situations it's hard to fully visualize. Problem I see with epoxys, is the prep needed to get a good bond, especially if it's under water all the time. I imagine the epoxy would work if you can get a good bond. I'm sure you...

    Underwater epoxy?

Not on that product, I know the "stick" type you cut a chunk off and mold it, doesn't work very well. Other then epoxy, can you use zippy ties on certain objects?

    Canvas

You can get dyed or natural canvas at Walmart fabric section. It's untreated, so you'd have to treat it yourself.

    Anchor bend

To do it right, especially in maritime waters, you splice in a thimble on the end of your anchor line, to that, shackle a length of chain, maybe 5-8' then shackle the chain to the anchor. This way there is no wear or abrasion to your line, All components of your anchor system (ground tackle) is...

    Elite Hunter

I remember doing wing surveys in the 80's here in NY, apparently it's an on and off thing with them, probably if they get grant money specifically for it. Don't feel too good about yourself, they'll take anyone who agrees to do it. LOL

    Anchor line

In case anyone wants to use the paint method to dye their line, don't do it that way. mix the paint 50/50 with thinners, then it will soak in better and dry, won't be too stiff and won't bleed over everything. Or, the better way is to "tar" the line like all the commercial fishing netting...

    Anchor line

If for a boat, no need for solid braid, twisted nylon 3/8 to 1/2" has been the standby for a long time. Unless you just want to go bold. LOL A nice "decoy" line I've been using lately is a dark olive dyed braided jacket "crab" pot line. Comes all sizes but I've used the #6 which is bout 3/16"...

Partially DR --- Bald Eagles have recovered

Never had them in the last two lifetimes, at least. But we got em now, at least 3 nesting pairs that I know of, and a flyby now and then. Darn things are eating the Osprey chicks, adding insult to injury as they steal the fish from them too. Guess Benjamin Franklin was right, nothing but...

    Floor question

You have to seal the heck out of it, and you might get a couple 3 years. Last floor I did, I used spruce 1x3, with a half inch gap ,with a heavy coat of used engine oil, yeah, I know, but I ain't eating off it. I made the floor in parts to remove easily to get all the crap out that seems to...

For you amusement and comment... Mice....

Had a camper trailer at my hunting camp, had.... Load it up with mouse bait every trip, still had mouse stuff in every drawer, cabinet, walls...., then had snakes looking for the mice, then wasps using the snake skins for nests. True, wasn't sealed the best but. Finally couldn't stand the...

    Styrofoam for a float?

around here, I can scrounge all the blue dock foam I want, it comes from derelict, and broke floating docks. You may have the same stuff if your on salt water, look around the high tide wrack line. As for size, yes, 4' is minimum width, but you'll be happier with 5 unless your a member of the...

Cleaning up brushes after using oil paint

For the little I use oil paint, I just use a cheap brush and throw it away. If I need to save the brush for a second coat, I 'll clean it with paint thinner or wrap in plastic wrap for short term storage. I've also just dunked it into a container of water, it won't hurt anything and won't dry...
