Salt Lake City - some recomendations?

One of my Boston area employers had a division in Salt Lake & I used to go out there often. Moab is just too far for a day trip. You could rent snowmobiles in or around Park City. The ski mountain areas are less than a one hour drive from downtown Salt Lake. I live in New England & Utah's...

    Small outboard value?

Since new small (LIGHTWEIGHT) 2 strokes essentially went away the value of same has gone up. When working on my 3.5 hp 1994 vintage (bought new) Johnson my mechanic said he could have sold it about 6 times. My old school OMC has 2 cylinders & runs far smoother than the one cylinder 5 HP Honda I...

    FROZEN HANDS

You suffered a mild case of frostbite. I am 67 now and can't afford to REALLY get chilled hands because they will not get warmed up. In my 20s once shore fishing (air in 40s but wind blowing but water just barely above freezing) for lake trout in the spring in the Straits of Mackinaw with bare...

Any S New England reports on nesting production?

I'll be going in to brush up a walk in spot rough blind I've used for early season woodies & mallards on a small creek in eastern MA this weekend. Hope the old aluminum canoe I stashed is still there. Last year the spot didn't produce well for us but the season before was terrific. For whatever...

Anyone figured out access for non residents anywhere except the launch "beach" not far from Little Compton at the head of the branch?

    NDR Hungarian Partridge?

I've never read that releasing pen raised birds has worked to restock and upland bird populations.

Got a berry bear for the freezer.

A taxidermist told me that bear skin leather is something that taxidermists keep for themselves. Softer than deer & great for clothing.

    Goose choke?

I like 1s through a modified choke. 1s are effective & provide a denser pattern than BBs.

    Cork Decoy Repaints

I've never bothered to re-prime/seal used cork decoys. For new cork I've used spar varnish thinned 50%. I've gone over to mostly light weight decoys but when I do touch up cork decoys I mix flat rustoleum paints.

#$@^!^%! Broke three head bolts on my 3hp evinrude

Is there a good flow of water "out"? For any outboard I expect exhaust water to be warm but not hot. I wouldn't take the head off of even a 3 HP OB myself. When I had an overheating problem w/my mid 90s vintage 3 HP Evinrude I noticed that the mechanic "faired" the head on glass (very flat)...

    Big old freighter canoe rebuild

I've been told that a canvas covered boat fully filled/faired will be heavier than fiberglassed. Not sure what the downside of "forever" is with glass. If this boat was built in 1940, glassing it to get over 100 years seems like a win.

    Big old freighter canoe rebuild

"Building the Maine Guide Canoe" would be a good reference if you decided to recover it in canvas.

    Decoy anchors.

I have yet to see a decoy anchor that is substantially more useful than a strip of lead flashing w/hole drilled to attach the line.

Are ducks in Southern New England molting now?

Couple times seen a smallish mallard female in a field I go by on the way to a coyote calling spot. She looks kind of bedraggled & could be just immature. But it seems early to see 3/4 grown ducks of the year.
