Maybe that area had more rain. I always head to a river swamp to get my dose of wood ducks the first couple weeks of the season. The banks are usually full of acorns and they are certainly down from prior years. My yard at home is also not nearly as littered with acorns as it usually is...

I wear a silk liner with a heavy wool sock and I am comfortable in the coldest temps I've been in. This is usually paired with my 1600 wader boots or my mucks. I'll see if I can find where I bought the socks from. I get cold feet easily which is why I went with the heavy sock and 1600 waders...
