    Brain trust plumbing help...

We have several frost free lawn hydrants on the property here in Wyoming. I have one that started leaking (we were messing in the area and apparently jostled a fitting that wasn't, but now is leaking). The alternative to an easy fix is digging a 7' deep hole in the ground, so I'm hoping to avoid...

    Prop source for aluminum props....

Good thought. Fillets are wood flour and epoxy and I haven’t seen any changes (and wouldn’t expect). Even spots that I know I faired pretty heavily with micro balloons I can’t see anything. I think depth or thickness is driving it and I never faired anything that thick. I also do t usually fair...

    Prop source for aluminum props....

That is along the line of what I was thinking. They do bulge somewhat in the hot sun at sea level but flatten when cool. I desperately need to sand and paint the boat, so I’m seeing knocking them down and painting in a couple years if they don’t deflate on their own. Shows a downside of gobbing...

    Prop source for aluminum props....

Sure surprised me the extent of it. I'm familiar with towing at high altitude and understand that turbochargers make a lot of difference, but I never considered it for the boat. I'll definitely go with a 50 next time around to get back some of that get up and go that I lost. One other...

    Prop source for aluminum props....

OK, so I have the new prop and I'm decently pleased. I ended up going down 4 pitches with the 7000 foot elevation increase. For details for those interested... The lakes I'll most likely be on range from 6500 to 8000 feet elevation. I did my testing at 7300 feet, which is pretty much in the...

The build will take as long as you let it. Mine is one of the more complicated builds with a lot of modifications and with full integrated electrical, integrated blind, cockpit covers, and all wires and fuel lines hidden in runways. If you were going bare bones you might be 1/4 or 1/3 done.

Really enjoyed what I’ve seen so far! I’ve been too preoccupied with my own bs and missed this thread.

When my boat was at the stage yours is at, I was somewhere between 1/8 and maybe 1/4 done as far as hours.

Just a 2” chip brush, pour and corral/push with the brush, let gravity and the low viscosity move it.

Better to decide that before paint!!! I never roll and tip. Having the epoxy and boat warm to hot and letting it flatten on its own gives a nice finish if you manage the temps properly.

Mine is unusable without and per Joel that used to be in Sam’s shop those they built had wedges added before sea trials. Every one here that was properly powered needed them.

The oil based enamels take a little longer to cure on fresh epoxy, but I find that the adhesion is fantastic. There is definitely some reaction between the fresh epoxy and enamel that somewhat slows the paint hardening, but once dry it is on there well. I found this with both Parker’s and fme on...

    Prop source for aluminum props....

I did some looking and the range of possible lakes is 6-8000 feet, but around 7 is the most common. I’ll report back as soon as I have some hard rpm data.

If they can do it I’ll have them repitch one for a spare. I talked to them yesterday and they can move up or down some, but not several pitches.
